I remember years ago the big mac was actually kinda large. On my way home I'd buy 2 Big Mac's for like $12-$13 to fill me up

The whopper completely shyts all over it.

So you think we should ask the people who run the fast food chains to provide us with the information we use to determine whether or/ how much we should raise min wage. The people who's whole buisness model is based on having low paid employees.:francis:
outsiders have an agenda with crafting this notion to tell companies how to spend their money
So if we raise the minimum wage too high, we are going to lose jobs to foreign companies and domestic companies that choose to outsource.

That make vs. buy decision becomes a lot easier when the minimum wage doubles.

Jobs will disappear, please believe it.
Thats already happening

Something for all those in favor of raising minimum wage do you believe you will receive 110% increase in your salary to offset the difference? Do you think the people making $15 an hr at their "good job" is going to be cool with now getting paid minimum wage?

fast food is already too expensive.

i love how people talk about minuscule price increases for fast food, but then use the fear of higher priced food when people bring up the end of tipping, and paying waiters more

Why should companies like McDonald's be allowed to make billions of dollars in profits and not pay a living salary to its employees?

Why shouldn't they? They operate based on market demands. People want to eat their shyt, so they sell a lot of it, and make profit. People want what they provide at the cost they provide it at, and only McDonalds can provide it (whether you like Big Macs or not is inconsequential to the fact that only Mcdonalds can make them legally). They operate within an existing, lawful, corporate legal environment that allows them to do so. Their workers also operate based on supply and demand. Almost any adult with an average IQ or higher (and many with below average IQs) have the skills to do what Mcdonalds wants from most of their low-level employees. This means that there is a large SUPPLY of available McDonalds workers that far exceeds DEMAND for them. When this occurs, McDonalds can afford to pay them less. UNIQUE skills that are in DEMAND get paid more. That goes for anything from neurosurgeons to pro football players. The reason JJ Watt makes more than JJ Gott, the fast food employee (:mjlol:) , is because anyone can fukking flip a burger. Not everyone can beat an offensive lineman off a snap.

That's just an example, and I know no one is saying that McDonalds employees should be paid like JJ Watt, but looking at that process (more unique skills, the higher wage/supply and demand) explains why these skill-less people are paid less. And really, deserve to be paid less.

So people working 40hrs+ a week at fast food don't deserve a livable wage? have you ever worked fast food? lol honestly wouldn't expect any less from a cac to say some dumb shyt.

Well, no. Flipping a burger is not a skill that demands a livable wage. ANYONE can do that.

Besides, if you're working 40 hours a week at low-level fast food as a long-term career option you already lost at life.

I've never worked fast food, but I have worked retail when I was younger- which depending on where you're at pays about the same. And trust me, I met a lot of "lifers" that were 40 fukking years old doing what me as a 18-20 year old was doing, except they had no other prospects. That shyt is sad, and from talking to them, they have no one to blame but themselves most of the time. If you just have an AVERAGE amount of intelligence and social skills you can find a job that pays you enough to live. If not... :francis: . You're stupid or lazy my man there's not much I can do for you. Maybe you can get on disability for your lack of mental capacity :yeshrug:

The thing is though to a person like me, nothing aside from surgery is a real skill. So all you certified IT heads, all you corporate kissasses would be making $10. See how that shyt works? All it takes is for ONE person with a similar mindset to get control of a corporation and set a precedent.

CEO's don't base salaries on what they think people deserve. They base it off of market demands and labor supply. Trust me, the CEO of McDonalds might fukking HATE lawyers, think they're vapid and extortionate, think that in an ideal world wouldn't have to exist, and would pay his in-house counsel minimum wage if he could, but he can't. Because no one qualified in that field will want to work for him. They'll go to Wendy's or some shyt and he'll have to hire for job that requires a high level of legal and technical knowledge from his fry cook pool of workers:pachaha:Imagine all the lawsuits they'd lose :lolbron:

The poorest people spend a much higher percentage of their "disposable income" than wealthier people.
Kicking up the minimum wage will actually drive sales up in many industries.
Profit level may be slightly lower but they will more than make up for it in units sold.

The poor people who work at McDonald's and Walmart are by far the most likely to shop there.
More money in their hands will equal more money in those cash registers

How SWAY?! CEOs get billions in raises all the time w those costs getting written off. But we only hear about these economic guilt trips when we talk about improving wages for the masses! What's up with that?!

Fast food prices have been quietly on the rise for a while. Whether it is by shrinking portions or by raising prices. Fast food owners will pretend to be outraged about this but they know they'll make up the cost and then some without breaking a sweat.
