Cheap real estate is the main reason. Lots of cheap houses out in the burbs here. But there are other reasons too.

Other reason is pretty simple.
:yeshrug:It's the south. It's Black folks everywhere. Some of those areas was low income Black areas back before they was even suburbs. Before Atlanta was even really a somewhat large city. Like the Fairgrounds section of Marietta. That shyt was the hood back when Marietta was just the next town up the road from the A. nikkas been living over there since the end of the civil war. The burbs just grew up around it. Areas like that are sprinkled in all over the metro. Anywhere you had well to do Cacs back in the day you always had a nearby part of poor Blacks. Folks who lived in those areas were the servants and maids of the white people.

Side note for my ATL brehs- I'm old enough to remember when Buford Hwy was the hood. Mexicans just took that area over in the last 20-25 years. Back in the day Plaster Rd especially over that way was ratchet as fukk. nikkas in those areas were the ones who worked for the Cacs in North Buckhead and what's now Brookhaven. Even heard from a few old heads that the area that is now around Lenox train station was the hood back in the day before the train station was there. A lot of these spots have always been there. Poor nikkas been living out in the fringes in the metro

Yeah it's not just Clayton

Another reason I'm considering the move. My job is like 60-70 miles away EACH WAY... I get to work from home but it's not always the case.

If your car takes a shyt on you, you're fukked out here. And that's another reason why there's traffic almost 24/7 around here. Im feeling like its no longer worth staying here.

Kinda wanna do the small town thing

Man that's like my only gripe with Atlanta. It seems like everything is a damn journey. I live in Decatur work in Kennesaw and the commute is a bytch. But I refuse to move out there cause, fukk that:dame: I've been looking at spots in Mid Town just to get a little close and to move inside the city, but they taxing. I'm gonna make the move though. If the Marta was expanded and ran 24 hours, I would be good! But Marta is pretty much pointless:mjcry:

Also businesses don't buy in black areas in atlanta. You'll be hard press to find whole foods and sprouts in the black suburbs. They planned for this long ago though.....:mjcry:
As soon as they move them Chik-Fil-A's away from my neighborhood then

But luckily some of these rednecks live on the outskirts as well

thread is looooooooong overdue...I always chuckle at these threads with black folk so thirsty to move to Atlanta :usure:...speaking of thirst didn't they just have a water shortage a few summers ago? :why:
I also remember a national news story a few years ago about the job outlook for the country and they showed a "career fair" event going on in the city.....the line to get into that fair had to extend for a good half-a-mile with people not able to get in before the fair ended:martin: and to add insult to injury, one of the career fair spokesmen that they interviewed got on TV and said that they were having the fair to "boost morale" :martin: - in other words most of the employers at the fair were not actually offering jobs :martin:

This is nothing new. Grew up with Section 8 nights and 6 figure nikkas right next to each other.
That's like where I stay at and quite a few areas in Memphis. Once black people started moving out to these areas outside of the core of the city around the late 90's, white folks with money moved out, the schools started performing terribly, and all the economy left. Now you have neighborhoods with big, 2 story 2000-plus sq ft bandos surrounded by section 8 housing and the lowest performing schools in the state. You got doctors and shyt living around the block from nikkas trapping. The property is cheap af so anybody can move in

These areas also suffered because the economy (malls, restaurants, attractions) left the area and were replaced by shyt like dollar stores, beauty supply stores, and cheap clothing stores. Anybody from Memphis or has ever spent time here during the 90's/early 2000's remebers the Raleigh Springs Mall. That shyt now is essentially a gigantic abandonded building on the side of the highway. Because it ain't shyt out in these areas except cheap shyt, you have to drive even further out to the burbs to go anywhere worth shopping at. That creates neighborhoods that no one has an incentive to live in; because they're too far out from the inner city and the points of interests are further out in the burbs. So areas like where I stay at just ending becoming hood af because there's no purpose in anyone moving out here other than buying a decent sized house for cheap

Breh me and you will be both be dust by the time MARTA gets to Kennesaw. You stay in Cobb breh. Y'all the last folks who need to be complaining about MARTA being useless. Blame that on them Cacs who run your county. If you want access to transit you should just move to another area. And what's wrong with the Dec breh? Downtown Decatur is dope as fukk and the Black part of the Dec is like chocolate city. That shyt is beautiful.

shyt man, I actually like Decatur a lot. I'm actually really comfortable in the Dec cause I'm around my people. But I feel like I need to be in the middle of Atlanta since the city is kind of spread out. That's why I been looking at Mid Town. I've been trying to get a job downtown, but keep ending up in Kennesaw. It's a lot of good paying jobs out there for what I do (Finance Field) I at least want to move past that bottleneck that you hit trying to get past the downtown area on the highway. That's where I spend most of my time on the road. shyt be turning my 9:00-5:00 into a 7:00-7:00:mjcry:
