I made no such inference, what you should have taken from the comment, given the context of the thread, is that women who do choose to seek out partners for marriage will have much higher standards than women that preceded them. This isn't about women not being able to find partners, it's about them not being able to find qualified partners, there's a very clear distinction here.

The rub is that they've been entering lopsided arrangements out of some misplaced sense of doing what's best for everyone that isn't them which is why they're putting their own wants first and having higher expectations from the men they choose to marry in modern times.

I'd argue that we're not even being honest about the dating down discussion if it's solely based on income and not other things either partner brings to the marriage, if all things were taken into account, I wouldn't be surprised if most women haven't been dating down.
