As someone who was once deeply suicidal and later a mental health counselor helping suicidal people, I'll say this.
A suicidal person has thinking errors.
Their thinking gets so warped and wrapped up in itself that it becomes unrecognizable or unreachable.
Often they think catastrophically negative about themselves, people, and/or the world.
There is often anger at others, but not always.
And yes, it's fair to say that one thinking error is being too focused on oneself.

, terminal cancer/disease, or if you lost your whole immediate family instantly (like a car crash)
man I know depression. I hit rock bottom and reoriented only to climb out and I knew from that point on I’d never feel that way again. I even know how it feels to want to die. Not suicidal, but definitely a desire to just die. Like it was a release. What I’ve done since then are things you wouldn’t believe. *I* wouldn’t believe it if some angel dropped down and told me it’s beyond the bend. Lemme guess, you think I just made this thread randomly? I’m a champion and I’m here for uplift.
. It's the first thing they look for in a depression screening.
