Don't mean to be harsh on the brother and I don't know all the details but it's pretty selfish to kill your self when you have such a family. If you're being bullied or facing racism just quit and look for a new job. Obviously as a highly talented black engineer I doubt he'd have been jobless for long.
You're sick as fukk if you think he's in his correct frame of mind when he shot himself..People like that, they start off normal and then something happens to their mental state. I'm sad and honestly relieved that it wasn't one of those murder-suicides you also hear about.

Those jobs can eat you alive.imaginary deadline after deadline, your boss on top of you talking shyt about how fast youre going. My last job was like this, had me cracking too. But suicide? Dude wasnt used to failure i guess.. those places intentionally break your spirit.
Plus 170k in San fran isn't all that much. Maybe like 60-70k anywhere else. He wasn't that rich. Im in tech but I don't particularly care for the culture out there, he should have stayed in Atlanta tbh. Atl is gonna be the black san fran in 10 years or so (imo)

This is one of the reasons why I tell nikkas to work on getting their own business going, even if it nets you $1 a year, you need an exit strategy, that's the major leagues out there.

He turned down an offer from Apple to go to Uber, because he felt he could grow more with the younger company and was excited about the chance to profit from stock options when it went public.
Bruh ruined his families lives by being greedy. He stayed at uber in order to get more involved in the company i.e. buying stock and faced God knows what instead of leaving to work at Apple because they were already established.

Hope his kids are alright:francis:

Suicicide is coward shyt, especially if you have a family.

There is nothing you could do to hurt your family more.
I dont give a fukk if they were calling him ****** every day of the week, you dont do that to your family.

You quit and do something else.
Cottenelle soft generation, this disgusts me :scust:

All that being said... probably something else was going on...

Yall brehs trippin.

This situation had more to do with him than anything else.

He was no where near the first Black person to deal with an environment full of non-Blacks.

Yall must forget a few decades ago, little black boys and girls integrated in all white places and had to deal with a lot of BS ---- at 6-12 years old.

And they weren't getting paid 170K to do it.

If they could deal with racism, this breh could have.

Like I said before, he was suicidal before he even took the job.

This was just the straw that broke the camels back.
there's a difference though, you have more to lose when your 30+ vs being a kid

GTFOH, I have no sympathy for this man whatsoever. If you don't like a job, you quit and get another one. I do it all the fukking time. With his credentials and accolades he would've easily got another one. This has nothing to do with Uber but his internal emotional struggles. Miss me with all that if you making $170k for the year and could retire in that same year.

Making 170K in Silicon Valley while having a family is like making 50K somewhere else...

He wasn't caking up there...dude was average...

I never judge people who commit suicide or thinking about it because you never know the personal struggles that someone is going through.

Just curious, what level of personal struggle do you think excuses killing yourself and leaving your wife and 2 kids behind :jbhmm:

Not trying to get at you, just curious

you should have more mental fortitude....and with a wife and kid, more to live for

but that's where we are dropping the ball as a collective....black kids today probably couldn't do what black kids did in the 50s and 60s...

we are lacking mental toughness...though it's not just a black thing...

Dude was in Pittsburg not San fran right?

Im gonna assume dude had a mental illness but cause you dont leave your wife and kids without a damn father because work is too hard. With his resume he could literally get a job at most fortune 250 companies.
