Almost, but not quite. Seems our ancestors were more familiar with the text/system than our present-day sensibilities give them credit for. When slavemasters tried to give enslaved Africans 'doctored/edited' texts, they knew they were bullshyt and walked-out of services using them en-masse.

I agree with everything in the post, but I'm curious.........y do u feel our fellow black men and women still clutch 2 the Bible without waiver? Granted I've encountered plenty of ppl who have knowledge of self and have their own understanding of what the good book is, but from my experience most of us take it quite "literally" , not realizing the Bible is an analogy 4 different stages of human consciousness, among other things. Almost, but not quite. Hebrews were always monotheists and the text of the OT solidifies this understanding. The Hebrew understanding of monotheism went something like: there are many elohim, but YHWH is the only elohim worth worshipping. Matter of fact, the whole 'Trinity' idea comes from a Hebrew understanding of the 'uniqueness' of YHWH. This idea was made heretical in the 2nd Century CE when certain Hebrews began believing Jesus was 'one with YHWH'.....
