The 1st game was published by MS, I could be wrong but I was assuming they had rights on the IP.

So when Insomniac when to Sony when exclusives were still a major thing on both PS and XBox, the franchise seemed to be in purgatory

Honestly what makes me doubt this is The Nintendo Switch 2.

Switch 2 stuff is barely getting announced in these showcases, my guess is either Nintendo themselves want to reveal as much as they can themselves or most dev got the dev kit late
