Stolen from GAF. If you look at Nintendo's track record of console sales other than the Wii which we all know was the benefactor of a well timed gimmick all Nintendo consoles have sold within 15-20 million worse than their predecessors. Its just been a steady decline.
The last 2 years were the only times when the company didn't turn a profit though. And IIRC they weren't that far in the red despite launching new hardware both of those years...with one of those being their 1st hd console. Nobody except Nintendo knows if they actually made a profit on the N64 or GC since they show profits for the entire company and those systems were not launched while Iwata was at the helm. He will be 1-2 when this gen ends.

The Wii U is a dud but it makes no sense to not put out another console when they have the cash for it. Gamers have spoken and shown that they want more in the hardware department and a constant stream of games that aren't just 1st party games. Nintendo has the resources to address these issues so if Iwata cant make a business plan to do so then he needs to go :camby: and let someone else step in that will.

I just don't see how it wouldn't be a smarter move to address their relationships with 3rd parties and hardware decisions. Why do you think its a better move for them to put their head in the sand and not exploit a market that has potential to bring in revenue? The market is there and most gamers I know wouldn't mind investing in a Nintendo console if they got their shyt together in those 2 areas.

Super Mario Sunshine get's slept on too hard, I liked it for what it was.

It's still the weakest 3D Mario game tho.:yeshrug:

Its flaws stand out more than most Mario games. Those FLUDD levels became very tedious and annoying. The collect-a-thon elements in platformers had kind of run its course by then too. Its still a great game though. The hub is still my favorite Mario setting .:blessed:

I'm actually hoping they open it up with their next game. I appreciate the level design but i like to explore.

Bros 3 is the GOAT game in that series IMO.

Yoshi's Island and World are my numbers 2 and 3

The goomba's shoe though :blessed:

EDIT: I can't even choose between the 3D games.

64 is a bit dated, but still legit.

Sunshine has some noticeable flaws, but at least had the guts to take risks and try something new.

The Galaxies are also piff.

The thing that really bugs me about these later games is the lack of freedom with the powerups though. Everything feels too designated. In Mario 3, World, and Yoshi's Island, you could use the bonus items anywhere you wanted. In the 3D games, you had time limits on almost everything, except in Sunshine where there were too few powerups to go around to begin with.
