Theres a training course in the trailer so I assume he’s gonna go through a hero’s journey during the run of this movie which makes sense.
They got Peach shaking her head as how sad he is. They making him the butt of all the jokes.
luigi was more of the coward...the games picked up that trait from the show
mario was never really clownish or cowardly on the show
he just wanted to wat most of the time

No I did not watch that show but I played the actual video games and none of them had him getting clowned and catching beatdowns so we could laugh at his expense. I get the voice actor they got to play him in the games did a really weird voice but that was about it. Here it just seems like they took the easy way out with this movie and just turned a hero into a clown for cheap laughs. In the games Luigi is the bumbling idiot.
