Pete is not spending a lot either. Maybe rumors of Bloomberg making the call to major donors telling them to stay out of it was true.
Ehh, I also believe they know Pete has no shot, them early cac states were simply to validate him sticking around. Pete 2020 is all about setting up Pete 2024 or 28

If Pete runs for President again in 2024 or 2028 how will he fare any better than now? He will still get very little black support and not go anywhere like now.

he know where he's soft now. he'll find his way to washington. he'll put in more work with POC and use it as proof "i heard your concerns and have spent the last 4/8 years dedicating my self to XYX, talking to ABC, and learning more about 123". buy a few black endorsements and he's in there (well more competitive)

...But are you tho?:ld:

I might. We'll see how everything plays out.

I would have voted Bernie in 2016 and have receipts.

I truthfully don't think anyone can beat Trump but Bernie has the best shot and provides the best value for the middle class so I'm rooting for him to win the Dem nomination and we'll see how things go from there.

Side note: I replied "Trump 2020" to the Bernie text spammer and he said he would remove me from the list immediately

8 years from now - this will sound bad - Pete’s core base of support will mostly be dead or decreased. He has no backing with millennials of any race. Pete is going to be one of those dudes like Booker who had initial hype and then faded out. White people gave this dude life in early states that he didn’t really have overall. If this race begins in more diverse states then Pete and Amy dropout before Beto and Kamala.

i don't agree, people change, both voters and politicians. the thing going for him is there's evidence he had more progressive beliefs in the past, he ran on saying nothing - therefore isn't really tied to any positions, doesn't have a long record in Washington, and is green to the national landscape. being so young and with relatively little baggage, he has the ability to reinvent himself and/or stake out the position du jour.

So how will he convince the generation that rejected him now to suddenly love him a decade from now when there’s a new fresh face? It’s why Bill Clinton thought he missed his moment by not running in 88. It’s why Obama ran in 08. It is why Rubio, Cruz and Walker all ran when they did. Unless you get an alley oop from someone in office - either by being in their cabinet or by them being a colossal fukk up - there is usually no second successful run or you become old news. It’s why so many Democrats regret not running against Hillary. 10 years from now the demographics favor someone like AOC more than they favor Pete. The caucuses will be dead and the early states won’t be all white states. In what reality will Pete Buttgieg be more popular among people of color than the many young POC who will be prepared to run? All these people in Congress are in their 70s, if not 80s. 10 years from now Pete will be looking at an entirely different political world.

I get what you’re saying - he’s a chameleon - but even just on a personal level people don’t like dude. It’s beyond politics. Only donors and old people like him.
