Man of Steel's theater run was June 14th to September 19th.

pitching nuffin but garbage. To make superman great again. They did not have to make lois lane wack again. That is my only issue with superman my whole life. Lois is insufferable and should never be written like that. Mos had lois and supes birth parents accurrate. Why they even included viltrumite el and lois olive oyl can boyd lane makes no sense to me. My only issue is.
this superman invests in what made superman a dead draw. To the detriment of superman. That they had to kill him. Why revisit the shyt everyone hated about superman to reboot it. Hopefully they just wavy screen forget about that in the next one. Maybe even recast lois. As that broad ugly as hell who olays lois. Plus the character is insufferable.

Exactly. Some people are saying, "Well, Jor-El was evil in Smallville" or "Kryptonians were bad in John Byrne's comic run". OK, and? That's NOT the general or standard depiction of either Jor-El or Kryptonians (outside of Zod and his followers).

I think Gunn is doing this because he prefers the belief in "found family" being greater than biological family. A common theme throughout his work.

I personally don't believe that you have to diminish Jor-El and Lara in order to glorify the Kents. All Gunn had to do was make the message from Jor-El and Lara more simple: "We love you and wish the best for you on Earth". There doesn't need to be a greater purpose (good or bad) attached to the message.

When no successful comic of the boom was welled in the civilian experience. Even xmen were removed to australia. To move away from the mutie scum ideal. Then sold a million. After the mutie scum storyline were written and in the background for a good long while. Like five years of print from 220 to 280 and xmen number one. To the point in xmen 2 when mags starts his bullshyt. Powered up and secretly siphoned by fabian. The xmen save the day. Yet there is not the same level of vitroil from the public. Like early xmen 200 mags tried in court issues. Yeah the world of marvel had issues. Yet the writers moved away from the civilian vitroil.

even has the parent storyline in this. It was not needed. Just like lois being insufferable was not needed and had been phased out in every aspeft of dc after superman death. As dc moved lois.

Gunn likes to follow silly campish shyt. Luckily this movie goes over well enough. That the moves gunn makes that people loathe about superman. Are swept back under the rug and forgotten about as this dcu goes on. As they need to jettison old bad that never worked. Plus made superman have to be relaunched.

Superman always does well in reboot. Yet when you reboot superman. To then harp or add. On variables that eventually causes superman ruin and numerous reboots.
Right now dc does not have superman as a draw in print. They have an elseworld bright burn superman running around and a broke batman. That deviate from what superman and batman are at their core.

This film does a good job to mine likeable superman variables. Yet needs to jettison any bryne meets viltrumite connection for supes father. As well as jettison ugly wack lois lane meets olive oyl dynamics. Mos did a better job at explaining and making lois better. Why are we back at wack lois. When the cartoon, comic and last film franchise. Worked really hard for decades.
to change lois into an awesome character. Why are we back to margot kidder olive oyl lois lane. Where we hope superman will fukk ms tessmacher instead?



That even the og movie read our mind about fukk lois.

Like why ruin decades of perception changing character growth. Plus well the new relaunch. Into territory that usually causes another relaunch.

Right now, the only 2 ways for a superhero movie to make a boatload of money ($800 million and higher) is to be....

1) Spider-Man related. The new Spidey movie next year is guaranteed to make an easy billion lol.

2) Nostalgia bait. Have nostalgic cameos and reappearances of fan favorite characters/actors.

For example, if Superman 2025 featured Henry Cavill playing Ultraman or General Zod, it probably would've made $800 million worldwide easily. Or if Christian Bale made a one-time reappearance as Batman, Supes '25 would clear a billy.

That's the unfortunate reality for superhero movies right now.

As crazy as this may sound… I would LOVE for Gunn to somehow pay homage and bring this back to the SM movies

Dc has never been that smart like that.

Past denys cowen having static wear a 90's malcolm x hat. That when the cartoon dropped. Of course static had no x hat.

Dc has never been smart to make dc characters really relateable.
Or popular.
when trying to make dc characters socially current fluid or relevent.

Dc characters are like lore exposition meets period pieces. Dc never really had a firm grasp. On making their character t shirt chill and coffee shop cool. That is a marvel component.

I really liked the performances and the universe established in this.

The execution felt all over the place for long stretches tho and gags were getting plugged into the action where they just felt jarring.

Hopefully next go around they get the formula down pat and Superman gets his Dark Knight Returns moment.

Crazy they haven't honestly improved on the take from the first couple of Donner movies after nearly half a century.

They butchered the donner film originally.
Plus fukked up superman back then tho.


That the donner cut exist and showed there was no need.
to touch donner's vision.
I urge everyone to watch the donner cut.
