I mean, if Captain America: Brave New World can open to $100 million dollars domestically. Then I see no reason why Superman can't open to $135 million domestically.

It's not really about the opening, though. It's about sustaining the momentum + word of mouth (which will depend on the quality of the movie).

The quality won't be there. Those trailers haven't been exciting and it opens in 2 weeks.

You think it makes over 700 million? You think it'll make more than THE BATMAN?
It should make over 700. It's tracking for 175 opening so it should easily surpass 350 here domestically and should probably match that internationally.

Saw the trailer again last night before F1 (excellent flick btw) and it still just falling flat to me. F4 looks even worse (and should flop) and makes me cringe everytime I see that trailer but I think l think this does well enough because Gunn would look like a fool if this underperforms, so it cant by any means.

I don't that's meaningful. That 2nd week number will decide it's fate. There doesn't seem anything exciting to this movie or fresh. I can see it topping out around 550 to 650 million. would would be a disaster.

THE BATMAN made 772 million. I don't think it will get close to that number.

I mean, you could be right. I've been off on BO numbers for several films that I thought would flop or underperform. Most people in this thread think this movie looks fire, but that's mainly from the stans. I think i'm just worn out on superhero flicks so this looks just ok to me. F4 is the one that looks like a flop and if that does well I'll just stop making predictions as a whole lmao

Tracking is hardly a science, and projections have been notably off in a number of instances from all the services. To that end, insiders at DC Studios and Warners are being more conservative in suggesting $90 million to $125 million (although anything less than $100 million might be seen as a blemish).

WB knows it's not looking good.

Only way this doesn't flop is if the audience love the film so much word of mouth spread opening weekend and it doesn't drop the second week like SInners did.

Breaking even would still be a flop for superman.
Less than a billion is flop

Only ten movies total since COVID have crossed a billion most of them sequels to highly anticipated returning franchises. Many comic book movies like the Cap sequels, Joker sequel, Cap Marvel sequels, etc.. have barely crossed $400M total, if that... This isn't the box office of 2019. This is a new Superman that nobody knows anything about. This is like 'Batman Begins' where even if the movie is good, there's likely a ceiling on it being a new interpretation.

"less than a billion" :mjlol: Yeah, you have no clue what you're talking about lmaoo
