:heh: His right though, you have Snyder cultists making asinine statements like “Superman wouldn’t do this or that” yet supporting Snyder b*stardised version of the character.
He Right, but not in the way you or he thinks. Superman has always been and corny and boring character.
Too many comic fans casuals, think that by making a character more powerful they become more interesting.
That is not the case, Daredevil more interesting the majority of comic book characters and he can't even see.
Adding layers, character flaws, are what we wanted to make superman a 3 dimensional character.
You mention homelander and people like that because they took a boring template and made it interersting.
Superman's only challenge being kyptonite is not interesting. and you can't make everybody more powerful than him. So give him some defects to overcome too. thats what will make him work and not be corny, let him have relationship issues, prejudices etc give something else to overcome.

This entire statement shows that you know NOTHING about Superman, which is not surprising because most people who call Superman "corny and boring" don't.

Yet for some reason, you keep coming into this thread. Hmmm... :jbhmm:

I know that the most popular superman comic books are about existential challenges and not just him catching planes and rescuing damsels in distress on 1940s comics book shyt.
The Death of Superman which is basically like his phoenix saga. (which snyder fukked up in justice league) is not all smiles and rainbows.
Doesn't involve a single piece of kyrptnite. But the tone of that story (his most popular one i reiterate for any casual superman comic reader) is more closer to synder verse type films than Christopher Reeves or some shyt.

There are much better Supes comics than the "Death of Superman".

Anyway, like I said, a Superman hater such as yourself has no reason to be in this thread.

That’s subjective as I and many have never found him corny or boring. He is a wholesome character that seemingly embodies an outdated ideology but despite living in a pessimistic world he remains optimistic and hopeful and key trait of his character. It’s why many were jaded with Snyder having him say no one stays good in this world, Superman would never say that but b*stardised versions of himself would. The homelander/plutonian concept has been done to death, dark angsty Superman ok we get it. Whether it’s him in Red son or different iterations of his character in the form of Superboy prime or Injustice Superman etc…

Superman only challenge is kryptonite? :gucci: he has physical challenges in the form of foes that can actually throw down with him. Yes he will always win but same can be said for every other hero as it comes with the territory.

I was also under the impression that magic worked against superman? More comic heads can chime in, I just dont really remember any of the movies introducing that. Least from what I remember of the recent ones, been so long since I watched the brandon routh movies and I never watched the snyder ones to see if he played with that.

Homelander is not an interesting character. :skip: Dude is a walking inferiority complex: he doesnt try to be better, he doesnt show show growth at all or become more complex in his villainy. Hes a child that throws tantrum, a bad product.

Omni-man does it better.

Magic isn't necessarily a "weakness" for Superman, more of a vulnerability. He can be tricked or trapped by magic just like everyone else.

Anyway, Superman's other major weakness besides Kryptonite is red sunlight, which depowers him. Under a red sun or sun lamp, Superman becomes just a regular man. He would still be strong, but only at peak human strength, not superhuman strength, and he would have none of his powers (flight, laser eyes, ice breath, impenetrable body, etc).

Regardless, there are people in the DC universe that are similar in strength to Superman and can beat him in a fight (or come close), such as Darkseid, Mongul, Lobo, Parasite, Doomsday, Daxamites, evil Kryptonians (Zod and his followers), etc.
