Going off the trailers this seems like a James Gunn movie more than a Superman movie. Hope im wrong.

Thats what im thinking as well. I am not huge superman fan, so im not pressed to see it opening weekend anyway, but I was at least expecting some sort of news saying the movie was good to stimulate my interest.

I’ve heard it’s a mixed bag — not exactly glowing, but not universally hated either. That said, if this tanks, DC’s finished. There’s no coming back from another reset flopping.

Thanks for being objective. I just don't expect much from this movie. When Snyder's MAN OF STEEL trailers dropped, the HYPE was through the roof. I don't see that here. Superman is not as popular as BATMAN in the movie world. Maybe Superman is as big in comics, but not in the movie world.

This seems like a down the middle movie, with no wow factors.

Movies have review embargos. Basically, professional reviewers can't release their review of a movie until a certain time.

Superman's movie embargo will be lifted on July 8th. So that's when reviews will start rolling in.

You’re probably right, but I’m honestly Batman’d out. While I liked the 2022 Batman film - I didn’t love it like a lot people. The whole atmosphere of the film felt like Nolan-lite. I’m in the minority on this and that’s fine with me.

The Daily Beast reviewer seems to be a Man of Steel/Snyderverse stan. Also, that headline was very clickbaity. Regardless, a movie doesn't live or die by a random Daily Beat review lol.

Anyway, yes, we'll see the reviews when the embargo lifts.

He also said Sinners was “terrible” and “sloppy”…
