I really enjoyed the movie! I was skeptical about James Gunn because I didn't care for the Guardians movies, but I did enjoy The Suicide Squad.

David Corenswet is a great Superman. He definitely captured that Midwestern farmboy charm. Definitely in the top three.

The Gunn humor and random songs do show up but Gunn thankfully kept it to the minimum.

Mr. Terrific was great!

Guy Gardner was cool but I expected him to be more obnoxious. I wish he had better use of his powers.

Hawkgirl was just there. Nothing really memorable that stood out about her. They could have gotten any other female DC character to take her spot and it wouldn't have made a difference.

Lex Luthor is the closest to the comic Lex Luthor we've gotten on film. No dumb real estate scheme like Gene Hackman. No reddit incel like Jesse Eisenberg. Nicholas Hoult captured the arrogance and unhinged nature of Lex Luthor.

Superman's words to Luthor at the end will piss of the Fox News/MAGA folks!:umad:

#dogset was represented well, @Rhapscallion Démone :obama:

The CGI was not great but also not bad. Much better than The Flash! :scust:

I give the film a 8/10.The DCU is off to a good start. :ehh:

Lex's girlfriend was annoying AF. She's the type that physically she's great but you don't want to be around her too long.

Cat Grant's titties! :mjlit:

Cool to see Supergirl make an appearance.

I just realized "my Lex" is probably the TAS version, then probably Michael's version from Smallville. IIRC, both versions were on some calculated type shyt. Schemer/obsessed with superman, but smart.

Never read superman comics, how do the two portrayals of Lex I mentioned above compare to the comics version of Lex? :jbhmm:

Non-spoiler comments here. We just got back from the IMAX and any worries that people had about there being too much "Gunn" in the movie, no he reigned it in quite a bit from his previous films. David Corenswet gets to cook in a lot of emotional scenes and he does a great job with that as does Rachel as Lois. Obviously there is still humor but it's not a lot of over-the-top silliness and there's also not a lot of music. He let the score speak for itself which is great btw.

The action is really dope, it's definitely comic book-y in the way that I had hoped for.

Mister Terrific is so fukkin dope :wow: brehs.... it ain't even a cameo he's in a lot of the movie and he's stealing the show in every scene :whew:

I even liked this new age Luthor, tech billionaire. Muthafukka has answer for everything that's thrown his way, he got money into everything :wow: Green Lantern and Hawkgirl have some cool scenes.

There's one cameo that made me :mjlol: whole theater was laughing their ass off

Good start to the new universe.

I aint got a number review for you but it was fine. In the Gunn comic movie power rankings I'd put it last. It's never bad but I never felt like this is some elite cooking from Gunn. All his past work has one or a few standout moments where I thought this is a top comic book movie moment. This didn't really have one to me.

Random thoughts:
If Reeves, Cavill, Routh, and etc were playing Superman, Corenswet feels more like he's bouncing between Superman and Superteen at times. A surprising lack of him playing Clark in here. Depending on the clips and trailers you watched you've seen damn near all the Clark scenes already. Mr. Terrific has the best action scene in here, but Gunn got in his own way with the music choice.:francis: Lex was fine. Jimmy Olsen has a subplot that felt like something they would have done in the Harley Quinn animated show or that Batman vs Harley movie. Lois was fine. Everything was fine except for Hawkgirl she kept doing a cringy scream. I dunno if that's comic accurate or not but no bueno. Turning Jor-El and the Kryptonians into Viltrumites a was a choice.

My biggest gripe isn't with the movie itself but with the marketing. A crazy amount of this movie was in the trailers. No bullshyt like every major sequence in the movie.
And not just small incidental shyt but like the money shot moment of a scene was just thrown in the trailer like bruh what ya doin?:gucci:If you watched the clips they put out you really fukked yourself over. They damn near put the whole first act out in the trailers and clips.
