I wish they would've let Matthew Vaughn take a swing at Superman like he wanted too.

I could see that going forward.

If Gunn really trynna be on some Feigie shyt and oversee all the DC films.

He can’t possibly keep up with the writing & directing all future SM movies.

That’s too time consuming and won’t give fair amount of time and focus on other movies.

I think he just wanted to set the tone and pace with this one, but can see him passing it off

This was the Batman Forever of Superman films, tried to split the difference between serious and camp. Ultimately it felt like a continuation of the DCEU (Cavill could have done this) and the mixing and matching of tones felt really similar to Whedon's Justice League or Gunn's Suicide Squad. I thought all of the characters were great for the most part.

I could tell this had a lot of reshoots because there isn't a solid film score, not like MoS or even SR., just scattered. You can tell everything about a film based on how it is scored, it shows trust and respect between the composer and director. It didn't have that...

7/10....

I do have one gripe as I feel like Gunn made one dumb mistake and possible wrote himself in a corner for the future with one scene though

The scene at the end when it was revealed that Perry and Jimmy found out or KNEW Lois and Superman are dating.

Now what happens when they see Lois and Clark maybe flirt in the office?

Peoole can put 2 + 2 together…. Especially when Clark gets missing when SM is in action.

Minor gripe, may be nothing but in most other case for the public and Business eyes.

SM and Lois were not an item

Forgot to mention this but I was looking forward to how Gunn would establish the universe but he basically took The Suicide Squad and Creature Commandos world and just dropped Superman in. There's no seriousness whatsoever.

For the people who saw the movie:
One of the moments that broke me was when they had a joke about how he hated that people online were calling him Supershyt and then he goes into Lex's pocket dimension and the troll posts were coming from actual monkeys:why:

Gunn made some strange decisions in this. I can't take this movie seriously with things like that in it.

Lex putting his ex girlfriends in there is another stupid thing I can't let slide. The pocket dimension was cool for second then it instantly became dumb.

Supergirl doesn’t seem like she’s gonna be a captivating character either. That ending had me thinking Gunn gonna make her a overly quippy female Peter Parker :patrice:

Her entrance to this universe is as an obnoxious goofball. I hated that scene and then you have Krypto tossing her around making it more annoying.

They could've have her enter the fight and do something cool. Nah, just more comic relief.

Just left the theater a couple of hours ago.

Pros
*********************
David Corenswet as Superman. Gunn did a good job of showing emotions with Superman. Anger, bewilderment, sadness, disappointment.
Mr. Terrific - He might have stole the show for me as far as the whole movie goes. He had a very pivotal role in the movie. Hope to see more of him in the future.
Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor - Downright cutthroat as Lex. Ruthless and also smart. Calm and calculated at times.
Lois and Clark dynamic - I liked that she wasn't just some damsel in distress, but also she's the typical Lois putting herself in danger to catch a story or save someone.
Krypto - dogset is up right now. The scenes he was in were pretty good and he had a good bit of action
Ma and Pa Kent - I loved the grounded, small-town feel of these two. I feel making them very grounded help us understand Clark go through human emotions.
The action and fight scenes - I thought they were great. I'm big on action and Gunn delivered on that. The various angles and technology used seemed to be pretty top notch. I'm still wondering how they were able to pull some scenes off.
The Film Itself felt like Justice League Unlimited
Guy Gardner - Hopefully we'll see him and more of the lanterns in the future.

Cons
*********************
Hawk-girl - It's not really her fault, there was just too many characters to go around for screen time. Mr. Terrific and Guy stole her thunder, granted they have more abilities.
Mr. Terrific's action scene - I felt the music didn't fit, but a small gripe the action itself was great.
Citizens of Metropolis - You have big ass monsters and shyt going on right next to your building but you don't evacuate? There were some scenes where people weren't fleeing they were kind of just standing there watching.
Krypto - He was great, but I felt they pushed him into a lot of scenes because of the mountains cacs will move for their dogs. Dogs = money. He bailed Superman out a lot. Not really a big issue though.
Music - they played the theme at times which was great, but other than that didn't seem memorable.
The story - I like that we don't start with an origin again, but they showed way too much in the trailers I feel like.

The cons are very small gripes that don't outweigh the pros for me. It's 8/10 for me. Gunn is a comic book nerd and I'm interested in the rest of the DCU as well.

Did we watch the same movie? The humor and emotional beats were set apart much like he did with 'GOTG vol. 3' and there were far less scenes where everyone on screen is trying to be a comic like you'd have seen in that trilogy. There's an emotional weight to the film that the first two GOTG movies didn't have and you also said there was a lot of music and there was barely any... it was mostly the score. I can only remember popular music showing up twice and in one of the scenes it was actually dope as fukk featuring Mr. Terrific.

Haven't seen too much on the
cb accurate Hall of Justice

I thought it was a nice touch. :ehh:
This was as comic book as a cbm can get without becoming a cartoon. Just going off what they did with Terrific, Gunn should knock Batman out the park.

Yea about that…. This absolutely exposed how RP Batman don’t fit in this world and that is ok

I don’t mind them keeping wit separate after seeing this hell I don’t even mind them not making a solo Batman movie.

Just pull an OBFCL type shyt with Ghost on Rae album or like the Thor movie heavy with Hulk making a Thor/Hulk or Wolverin/Deadpool type shyt with Batman.

I would be fine with that

Every member of the Justice Gang would give Battinson the business.

This is certainly still connected to the Synderverse in some way, you got Peacekeeper chopping it up on tv, but this is merely a result of the split multi-verse from Flash's breaking of the universe. Gunn's gonna have to be careful on how he approaches Batman cause we could regress to Jimmy Carey/Arnold Schwarzenegger levels of goofy.

I called it years ago we would get slow-motion action scene with classic old school rock in the background as the heroes slices through the ops.

You had the little kid stand on business at the end and about to get got....then Green Lantern busts a little quip out...

Lex wasn't autistic this time but definitely had tech bro/ Elon Musk energy. Definitely MAGA if it exists there...Even tried to recreate the Hulk smashing Loki scene from Avengers, smh, silly.

The film re-used a lot of BvS story beats... Criticism by the American Government for rogue missions, Society's adaptation to who he is and what he represents, and Lex taking advantage of that to kill Supes...

The Superthot ending was campy and goofy, might as well call her She-Hulk
