i thought i would go in liking this, but i liked it more than i thought. lex was super hammy, and him holding major grudges over absolute dumb shyt was great. terrific and oddly krypto were the stand outs of the movie to me though. i didnt think either would have such a strong presense, but whenever they showed up on screen they ate. two questions i have, why did they put the engineer with lex, when mercy graves exists as a character and is already loyal to lex, and how does rick flag jr and sr exist? theres only like 9 years difference between both actors.

overall, fantastic 4 is really gonna have to put its best foot forward following this
Flag Jr is dead

Sr also was supposed to have died, but I guess they are going to explain how he survived creature commandos in the next season

As far as the engineer goes, gunn was working on the authority and I believe the engineer is supposed to be in that

Bro, these are civilizations on EARTH. Krypton is a dead planet hundreds of thousands of miles away from Earth. No one has heard of this planet until Supes came to earth. How the fukk are they able to decipher a dead language with just that video as evidence? :mjlol:

All they had was a video feed; no book or scroll. Even if they could decipher it wouldn’t take days. :skip:
But keep in mind people are a lot smarter in the DC universe than in the real universe.

the very fact that Mr terrific, cyborg, Terry Sloan, and Bruce exist means that it's possible. Furthermore, Star Labs , the US govt, and the Soviet equivalent of the DC have lots of experience with aliens other than Superman.

They have had meta-humans on earth for 300 years. I'm sure the technology exists. Maybe even another meta-human was able to decipher it for them, or give them a Rosetta stone type of device.

When it comes to movies they need to SHOW IT. Yes, we see Lex created a pocket universe, but there’s no mention of other alien beings. The only thing mentioned is the GL Corps.

It’s not hard to write a quick exposition saying, “we know more things about alien beings than you might imagine.” Or “we had Green Lantern decipher the video. The Corps has knowledge of Krypton.”

Again, SHOW IT. You’re assuming something when the movies are supposed to show/explain it. :beli:

lord ha mercy.

if there was a kryptonian language in the REAL WORLD we might be able to possibly decipher it.

in the REAL WORLD. much less a fantasy world.

it's that simple.

that does not need explanation for anyone who is even reasonably well read. just one step of induction away from what is already possible.

have you ever been to a natural history museum? every been through the egyptian section? if not, you should have.

coli calls that nerd knowledge :mjlol:

You’re talking about languages that have evolved to where we’re at today on Earth; not some planet in another system. Spanish and Italian have similar words, even English has words that sound similar to both.

It has taken decades, centuries, to decipher older, dead languages and it’s been done because the knowledge HAS BEEN PASSED DOWN. The fukkin Dead Sea Scrolls are still trying to be deciphered today. Somehow humans can decipher a dead language from a dead planet in one work day. :dead:

You nerds need to get over this shyt already. fukkin weirdos. :scust:

Egyptian language needed the Rosetta Stone to get translated. I doubt a Kryptonian book made it to Earth with some of those chunks of Kryptonite that fell out of the sky.

They should have just had the Green lantern ring translate it on screen while watching the broadcast instead of an unseen panel of linguists agreeing with Lex

Or maybe they use the same thing in DC that they use in Marvel, a universal translator. The only reason we really know that is a quick Easter egg during Gaurdians part 1. Thats why everyone can talk to aliens in the MCU.

you would :yeshrug:

the start of the video (the bit supes saw) was in english (translation) and kryptonian (original)

the damaged part was in kryptonian (original) only.

They should have just had the Green lantern ring translate it on screen while watching the broadcast instead of an unseen panel of linguists agreeing with Lex

they should have had footnotes for american audiences for whom foreign languages are like kryptonite.

(your premise aside)
