James Gunn Reveals Crucial Supergirl Detail After ‘Superman’s Massive Kryptonian Twist.

@King Static X So there's the answer for why he never asked Kara. She never met his parents and isn't older in this iteration. Probably tweaking the mythos again so she hasn't lived on Krypton and gotten stuck in time dilation.

"This clarification comes after Superman delivered its emotional Kryptonian gut-punch: a depiction of Kal-El’s biological parents, Jor-El and Lara, not as wise protectors but as cold, clinical supremacists. They view Earth and humanity as inferior — more an experiment than a refuge."

I dont remember Jorel saying all that:gucci:?

Gunn also adds he doesn’t think Jor-El is evil, who basically told his son to do whatever it takes to be fruitful and multiply:

"And I don’t really even think of Jor-El and Lara as being totally evil. They just have this mindset that humans are less than what they are. We’re sea turtles to them. They’re just trying to keep the Kryptonian genes alive."

So basically its like ive been saying the whole time. Jorel isnt inherently evil and doesnt give Clark any instruction to be an evil dictactor and kill the humans. They just see humans as an inferior species because we are and tell him to "guide" us. But good to know many of you are xenophobes who arent tolerant of cultural differences and ideologies:respect:

Last I saw 'F4' was likely to open around $130M in the U.S. and 'Superman' will likely be right around $295M in the U.S. through next weekend. August doesn't have much coming so both movies should have good holds.
The Fantastic Four are lesser-known characters (with an even worse brand history) than Superman. The presales for First Steps are also lower than Superman.

So, let's see what happens at the box office.

If Superman overall performs lower then the Man of Steel are we still getting a sequel?
I think MOS did close to 700mil (domestic and overseas total.)

At this rate I'd be positively surprised if it does.

A sequel is pretty much a done deal. 'Man of Steel' came out in the midst of the comic book movie boom period and also got around $100M from China/Russia/Korea, which is near impossible to do in 2025 at the box office now aside from a few movies.

'Superman' will also have a higher percentage of a domestic split. Right now it's 58% vs. 42% which means more money for the studio. The executives already made positive public statements as well which they would not have done.

This isn't the 'F4' thread but since we were talking about it. I could see it opening to $140M in the U.S. now seeing as the reviews are looking positive and everyone is expecting that it will tie into 'Doomsday'

I don't think that Gunn is planning a direct sequel to Superman right now.

I think that the next Superman appearance on the big screen will probably be a Superman/Supergirl crossover movie.

It was an unnecessary change

And if he does that to Superman, imagine what he does to Batman when he eventually shows up in the DCU?
