Mr. Terrific, who was shown as the 1st or 2nd at worst most intelligent person in this movie and new universe...and a hero/protagonist with no reason to lie or be fooled....VERY SPECIFICALLY said it was legit and verified...honestly...anyone who is searching beyond that does indeed need to get over it.

it was a choice of the writers...yall can like it or not

Mr. Terrific just said that he trusted the people who verified because he knew them, and "if they say it's legit, then it's legit". That's cool and all, but a bunch of nameless & faceless humans "verifying" an extinct alien language isn't really valid, in my personal opinion.

There's literally only 1 person whose word I would treat as sacrosanct on this subject, and that's Supergirl. She's a Kryptonian that spent time on Krypton and can speak the language. It's bizarre that Superman didn't/hasn't asked her about the message.

James Gunn made a poor writing choice. He could have done the twist in a much better way (or hopefully this will be addressed in the future) :manny:

Supergirl was off planet and drunk the entire movie and the message has been damaged until then so how would he have asked her?

Edit: And also we don’t have Egyptians who write hieroglyphics or Ancient Sumerians walking around to translate for us. It is possible to decode languages.

Yeah the timeline is crazy but it’s a two hour movie with black holes and portals. No dumber than Stargate people still using ancient Egyptian 2000 years later

Um, he could've easily asked her at the end of the movie given the big twist. That would be something I would ask my cousin in that situation.

Also, even before the twist, he could've asked her if she knew how to fully restore the message. They've known each other for seemingly some time.

The whole character arc of the movie is that the message doesn’t matter. They wanted him safe and what he does with that life is up to him.

You don’t undo you character arc in the last five minutes with “nevermind, he still needs his biological parents approval” to feel confident.

Assuming he and she have talked about his parents in any manner I’m guessing she didn’t call them dictatorial swingers that would have alerted him to question the last half of the message

The twist was unnecessary to do that. The message from his biological parents could've been benign with no greater purpose attached (good or bad). They just want him to survive, and sending him to Earth is their way of doing that. That's it; nothing else should be attached to the message.

Sure, but once again, she has knowledge of the Kryptonian language (and technology). That's something he should've asked her.

"I have this message from my parents, but it's in Kryptonian and partially damaged. Can you verify the contents of the message or know a way to restore it fully?"

IDK, seems pretty simple to me :manny:

:mjpls:YOU SAID IT WOULD EASILY
CROSS 600MS
AND APPROACH 400MS DOMESTICALLY

It is easily crossing $600M... it's doing it on Friday. It only dropped 34% last weekend and that's after it came out on PVOD which surely takes away some sales.

As for domestic, I never said it was going over $400M, I said it was going to approach it. It's close to $350M right now. How close does it have to be?

Also, why are you questioning me when you were the one who said it wouldn't cross $600M at all? It's the only comic book movie to reach that number this year

I enjoyed this, my only complaint is some of the exposition dump dialogue and a bit too much Krypto. My favorite moments involved Superman doing Superman shyt like fighting the Kaiju or fukking them Raptors up.

Hope the sequel is bit smaller in scale in terms of characters and bigger in scale in regards to the vibe (more epic, less jokey) and stakes. Just give me Clark & Lois, Clark & Jimmy, and Superman doing "OP" Superman shyt. Maybe one action scene with the Justice Gang in the beginning.

I think that Nolan Batman movies have distorted the public perception of the tone of comic book material. Comic books have always had humor in them (it's why they're called comic books). Some lay the humor on thick, Deadpool, Spider-Man, Squirrel Girl, some use a more dry humor, Superman, Batman, Daredevil. It's wasn't until Frank Miller and Alan Moore started writing in the 80s that some comics were being written with a more stoic tone, but even after that period writers started adding humor back into it.

For the most part, if you don't like humor, comics aren't that genre for you.
Batman comics were serious in tone too.
The name "comic" book you refer is more aligned with archie comics than Detective Comics. Nolan was exactly like the comics.
