It's currently the 3rd highest grossing movie domestically of the year behind only 'Minecraft' and 'Lilo & Stitch' which is even more important considering the studio receives 60%+ from domestic gross.
It did well here in the states for the most part and thats commendable. Tapping out at 350 isnt bad for a new supes. Kinda seems to be a ceiling for superman movies tho so regardless its getting a sequel and we shall see how successful he is in the long run.

Batman comics were serious in tone too.
The name "comic" book you refer is more aligned with archie comics than Detective Comics. Nolan was exactly like the comics.
The tone of Batman comics depends on what run. The og 40s and 50s were dikk Tracy -esqe. Silver age stuff goes from balanced, to campy, to Adam West like goofyness. The 80s-90s has some hyper serious stuff but is usually real balanced to the current Tom King and adjacent runs that while playing it straight will still have moments like this

Yeah, there's plenty of comedy in Batman comics.

I love the Nolan movies, but they are waaaaaaaapaaaaaaaay more grounded than the comics. Nolan didn't even bother to use venom in his depiction of Bane and venom is a big part of that Bane mythos.

A show like 'Peacemaker' enhances everything about Superman as well. The show takes you into the world of the street heroes/villains and how fukked up they are and how pretty much nobody respects them and everyone respects and honors Superman.

That's why when you see Peacemaker on that FOX News type show making those comments it just all makes sense, the difference between Superman and a fukk up (who did also help save the world but receives zero credit)

I saw that when it came out and the only thing I can remember about it was the airplane scene, very forgettable movie. I thought MOS had potential but the sequels got worse.

This one felt like it was part 5 of a franchise instead of part one. We got the Justice gang, Lex can build pocket universes, a superdog, Lois Lane flying ships and she's already dating superman, nanobyte girl, the clone, Lex's weird plan and his videogame attacks, magical creatures n shyt... wtf man

All in all, I thought it was a solid movie, but I had many of the same complaints. I understand not wanting to do another origin story, but this felt like it was too much, too soon. The pacing also felt rushed and because of that, some of the big moments really didn’t have time to land.
