Naw, that was squandered under Singer's watch, who did Superman Returns, they opted to remove the action sets for more character building, but painted themselves in the corner by giving Superman an baby out of nowhere.

It tanked and took Routh out, who I thought was a great Supes ..

Would've like to see Routh and Cavil get proper sequels... Spider-Man got 15 movies ffs!!!
The superhero renaissance happened post Superman returns. MOS was in the thick of it when things were good. I mean in the same year that MOS dropped Iron man 3 made a billy.

Yep. I've posted about this multiple times, but Man of Steel came out after 3 straight superhero films made a billion (The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, and Iron Man 3).

WB execs at that time expected MOS to also gross a billion... but it didn't even come close. That's why there was no Man of Steel 2, and WB shifted to make Batman v Superman (which also failed to gross a billion despite expectations).

I’ve heard it’s a mixed bag — not exactly glowing, but not universally hated either. That said, if this tanks, DC’s finished. There’s no coming back from another reset flopping.
Pretty bold move to reboot DC with superman right out the gate. I agree this shyt flop everything else after it will to.

Wonde what they would have to pay Gunn to go away :pachaha:
