How does a Superman V Batman film not crack a billy then in their first cinematic outing ever? Bear in mind that you said it yourself that Batman himself made a billy twice on his own. It’s because Snyder tainted that pool that Nolan had cleansed after Batman and Robin. Also Superman the movie adjusted for inflation is definitely a billy, where did you get your info?

I stand corrected, I was using Superman II's numbers by mistake and got 700 million. The OG Superman in the 70s made a billion, which was an outlier event since it was the first major Superman movie, no other Comic Book Competition/Fatigue, and the GA was comprised of Greatest Generation/Baby Boomer comic fans who were locked in to the property. Parts 3 and 4 were unmitigated disasters and took decades to bring him back to the big screen.

In 2025, GA just isn't into him as GenX, Millennials, Gen Z, would spend money on any other property but Supes....

Numbers don't lie.

As for BvS, WB rushed and tried to make Avengers DC version and crashed. It didn't crack a Billy because there was no build up(and the fan backlash of Affleck as Batman also didn't help). The result would have been the same if we did Iron Man and just went to Avengers without any of the other setup films.

The initial opening of BVS says the interest was there so I disagree, the drop of was monumental. People just didn’t like what was presented if a good movie was presented the film would have easily hit a billy. Bare in mind a few weeks later Cap 3 hit a billy. And you saying this gen isn’t into Superman while you have his counter part in similar beliefs and moral (Cap) thriving on the other side. I think this gen hasn’t been presented with a likeable Superman hence a disinterest. No one has really known what to do with the character hopefully until now.

Nah the initially opening says that didn’t matter, it was Batman and Superman on screen together for the first time. Any initial discourse was silenced until people really saw the movie. Word of mouth and fan discourse led to that movies pace slowing tremendously and essentially that was all she wrote. It took a decent WW gross but for a Superman and Batman film first outing severely underperformed in an era where hitting a billy for comic properties was happening multiple times.
