do yourselves a favor and watch it in 4DX. I'm not big on 4DX cause the one or two times I watched a movie in that format it felt real gimmicky. But this? It turned what was already an enjoyable movie into an amazing experience. It felt like a literal roller coaster at times, but not in a distracting way. I'm sure your son will love it. The movements and effects matched the action sequences to a T imo
Marvel should pay attention. This movie was fire

Why are you in here saying this when we supposedly watched the same movie? There were a bunch of "heartfelt" scenes during this and they never did the thing where it's like "oh, let me get this quip off right quick" during them. They did a nice job of balancing the two
I'll list the scenes right now
Superman and the robots
Superman and his Dad
Superman and Lois multiple times
Element Man
Superman and his "friends"
Superman saving the kids....
Superman finding out the truth about his parents
Need I go on?
These were all played in the movie as serious scenes with emotional weight to them. I'm beginning to think you didn't actually see it...

Had to remind myself what kind of movie this was there. There's no emotional weight to this movie.
OMG Lex kills the halal cart guy and I'm supposed to feel something as Superman cries in despair
The Pa Kent scene was the only one. The rest of those had no real weight. Doesn't matter if there wasn't an immediate quip when the next scene is silly. The tone of this movie never maintained any semblance of seriousness. I guarantee you can time anything you listed and there won't be 5 minutes that pass before something silly happens.
The whole scene with Jimmy and Eve meeting in the alley is probably sandwiched between something on your list and that scene was good awful.

So you wanted a brooding Superman? Ok... we saw that already. Superman comics are not brooding typically. Superman as a character isn't typically that either. There were plenty of serious scenes which I just outlined and they had emotional weight to them, they let them play out, some of them were several minutes long... Yes, of course there's going to be humor in there too, that's true to the comics as well. Gunn had a nice balance to it here, much more so than some of his previous work
why are yall NY nikkas so serious all the time? probably had a notepad in your hand the whole movie writing down every little nitpick. It was a fun Summer movie. just enjoy the shyt damnForgot to mention this but I was looking forward to how Gunn would establish the universe but he basically took The Suicide Squad and Creature Commandos world and just dropped Superman in. There's no seriousness whatsoever.
For the people who saw the movie:
One of the moments that broke me was when they had a joke about how he hated that people online were calling him Supershyt and then he goes into Lex's pocket dimension and the troll posts were coming from actual monkeys
Gunn made some strange decisions in this. I can't take this movie seriously with things like that in it.
Lex putting his ex girlfriends in there is another stupid thing I can't let slide. The pocket dimension was cool for second then it instantly became dumb.
Her entrance to this universe is as an obnoxious goofball. I hated that scene and then you have Krypto tossing her around making it more annoying.
They could've have her enter the fight and do something cool. Nah, just more comic relief.

Make up your minds lol...

I loved that sequence but yeah, that was a needle-drop more suited for the Guardians. If Gunn said it was a throwaway, it wouldn't even surprise me. Was bobbing my head anyway tho, lol.Just left the theater a couple of hours ago.
Pros
*********************
David Corenswet as Superman. Gunn did a good job of showing emotions with Superman. Anger, bewilderment, sadness, disappointment.
Mr. Terrific - He might have stole the show for me as far as the whole movie goes. He had a very pivotal role in the movie. Hope to see more of him in the future.
Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor - Downright cutthroat as Lex. Ruthless and also smart. Calm and calculated at times.
Lois and Clark dynamic - I liked that she wasn't just some damsel in distress, but also she's the typical Lois putting herself in danger to catch a story or save someone.
Krypto - dogset is up right now. The scenes he was in were pretty good and he had a good bit of action
Ma and Pa Kent - I loved the grounded, small-town feel of these two. I feel making them very grounded help us understand Clark go through human emotions.
The action and fight scenes - I thought they were great. I'm big on action and Gunn delivered on that. The various angles and technology used seemed to be pretty top notch. I'm still wondering how they were able to pull some scenes off.
The Film Itself felt like Justice League Unlimited
Guy Gardner - Hopefully we'll see him and more of the lanterns in the future.
Cons
*********************
Hawk-girl - It's not really her fault, there was just too many characters to go around for screen time. Mr. Terrific and Guy stole her thunder, granted they have more abilities.
Mr. Terrific's action scene - I felt the music didn't fit, but a small gripe the action itself was great.
Citizens of Metropolis - You have big ass monsters and shyt going on right next to your building but you don't evacuate? There were some scenes where people weren't fleeing they were kind of just standing there watching.
Krypto - He was great, but I felt they pushed him into a lot of scenes because of the mountains cacs will move for their dogs. Dogs = money. He bailed Superman out a lot. Not really a big issue though.
Music - they played the theme at times which was great, but other than that didn't seem memorable.
The story - I like that we don't start with an origin again, but they showed way too much in the trailers I feel like.
The cons are very small gripes that don't outweigh the pros for me. It's 8/10 for me. Gunn is a comic book nerd and I'm interested in the rest of the DCU as well.
This movie has too many flaws. I could see if I was the only one in here being negative but I'm seeing several 5, 6, and 7 reviews after mine and we're pointing out some of the same issues
It wouldn't be The Coli without it
