The tone is camp and serious, not over the top camp like Batman & Robin.

I'm afraid Gunn would make Batman 60s style to troll us...lmao...you never know.

He's already said in interviews that he won't be doing that. The only hint we have about his batman is that his batman has been batman in the universe for much longer than superman, like 10-15 years. So he's going for more of a vet/old man bruce. Opens the door for the bat family, which other batman movie directors usually avoid.

Fụck na. That shıt was ass.
agreed. The batman sucks.

Before I went to see this movie, I read through this thread, skipping the spoilers. The way some nikkas in here were talking, I was thinking this movie would have Thor Ragnarok or Thor Love and Thunder levels of comedy. I absolutely despise both of those movies. The comedy to me was fine, and I'm not somebody who's a fan of James Gunn's type of humor. I was not excited when it was announced that he'd be in charge of the new output of DC movies.

Just because you like Man of Steel or this movie, that doesn't mean you have to hate the other one. I like both films, and they're both different takes on Superman. But this Superman movie captures the comic book essence of Superman better IMO. Superman is a lot more heroic in this movie than he ever was in MOS. Like a lot of other people have said, this movie is a lot more comic-booky. I can see how that can be off-putting to some people, but if you ever pick up a Superman comic book, Clark is out here doing a lot of wacky things :yeshrug:

I loved the way they did Superman's flight in this movie. I don't think I've ever seen that type of flying pov done in a movie before. Mr Terrific and Guy Gardner were great in this movie. Prior to this film, I was curious how they were going to handle Hawkgirl when the actress playing her is so short. I thought that maybe they'd make her look taller with camera angles or with shoes with a platform, but nah, she's still mad short in this.

I give this movie an 8 or a 9. This, MOS, and Superman 2 are my three favorite Superman movies now. The only major gripe I had with this movie was the portrayal of the Kents. They were depicted as redneck hillbillies, which is very unusual. Their accent was southern, but they're supposed to be from Kansas. They should have had a midwestern accent of some kind. The scenes with them did not resonate with me at all.

Hawkgirl killed the president of a foreign nation, and it wasn't brought up at all after that. There should be some serious consequences for that. Superman, at least, should've reprimanded her or something.

The only thing I'm interested in, is Batman

But I don't think Gunn knows what to do with Batman because Matt Reeves went ahead and made the Batman that we been deserving for decades.
I can't disagree with the second part. You think they should just make Pattinson the Batman of this new DCU?

So I get not doing an origin story. But at the same time, as a non-comic person, I really didn't get to know these supporting characters. Like I know Mr. Terrific from "Arrow". But here it was like I have no connection to him, Hawk, Green Lat. He should did some type of building of these characters. Now, with Lois and Krypto, Luthor it worked fine.

Now, the Superman direction. I'm open to what he wants to do. Sorta like Nolan and Batman Begins. But this didn't convice me that it's about to be the new leader over Marvel. The action was cool near the middle end. But this clearly wasn't his point. He really wanted this flawed human with superpowers.

I was glad this wasn't a goofy film though. Because that opening backstory was corny. But luckily that wasn't the tone.
You'll see them in 999 other things in the future.

If they spent too much time telling you who these characters are now y'all would complain the movie spent too much time on that too. If anything, it was smart to actually put emphasis on Mr. Terrific specifically as the least known comic book hero in the movie so you would build more of a connection to him specifically in this movie, and they did. Everyone knows who green lantern and hawkgirl are, hawkman was just in a movie. And you'll see green lantern again in their TV show and hawkgirl in peacemaker.

I think it'll be brought up, just not in this particular movie. That may be an ongoing plot point revisited in peacemaker or creature commandos. They also did it to help us understand how ruthless hawkgirl is, so I'm sure they have future big plans for the character.

It was brought up, am I tripping but didn’t Flag and that Senator mentioned about Meta’s being out of control and doing their own thing. It didn’t directly address what Hawkgirl did but the implications was there.

Yea, he said every character will have a "tonally" different story.

Batman won't be colorful.

Sure too much time I agree. But the movie is only 2 hr 7 min. So you can slap on an extra 5 minutes to do that. Would not hurt the movie. Heck we expect these movies to be 2 1/2 so an extra 5 wouldn't hurt.

@CHICAGO I never said 'Man of Steel' wasn't great. I've always said it was so what's the point of your post? That doesn't make me a "snyderbro" because I'm not one of these people online acting like the two movies can't coexist, I'm not online starting campaigns, I'm not on Twitter with hashtags, I'm not someone who can't let go that the universe is over, I'm not someone who is going on IMDB or Reddit or Twitter or RT and trying to sabotage the ratings for the new movie.

That's what a "snyderbro" is and you know it. There's a BIG difference between me going to bat for 'Man of Steel' on here and what some of these people are doing

I don't know what I would say is the "best" I think 'Superman' represents more for people who have read the comics or people who have watched the Justice League cartoons and grew up on that. That's what 'Superman' really reminds me of..

'Man of Steel' reminds me of a couple story arcs throughout the comics as well but the typical Superman isn't as stoic.

I think David is a better actor than Cavill and Rachel plays a better Lois than Amy Adams. The Luthor is 'Superman' is also more of a true representation of Lex than what is in 'Man of Steel' with Eisenberg.

I liked the action scenes in 'Superman' a lot because of how comic book-y they were but 'Man of Steel' has the best action sequences overall of any comic book movie that's ever been made. That's where Snyder shines.

There's different things to like from both movies.

Finally an attractive Lois.

Amy Adams was ugly as shıt.

This Lois Lane was actually attractive. I wonder if @I love Latina women has a thread on shorty. 🤔

Moments but this wasn't it. MoS is the superior movie. fukking What the hey and golly ass shyt.
Respectfully disagree, I have my gripes with this movie but this was a better overall movie and Superman move than MOS. The spirit of Superman is embodied in Gunns Superman. While Snyders Superman was just foreign in every sense of the word. Gunn needs to tone down certain elements going forward but to me this movie is no where as disastrous of a start as MOS was. David Superman actually has a personality which is a darn more than I can say regarding Cavill Superman.
