He wasn’t weak he was concerned above saving people first and foremost. His feats are arguably the strongest shown on film.
Zack Snyder’s Superman didn’t care if he was being slammed into a building full of people or throwing a locomotive into a Denny’s so he “looks” stronger.
There were multiple times where Superman got serious and handled business.
Superman had to be bailed out during every battle.
His dog saved him at least 3 times. Lmao
Like someone posted there's a good movie in there somewhere. Script and overall story was pretty weak tho.
Other nitpicks: Lois is ugly. That suit was atrocious. The whole Bovaria subplot was stupid.
Gunn did deliver some fun scenes and I think this could of easily been a 8, 9/10 movie but his writing in this movie at least was pretty average at best. Dude playing supes wasnt bad. He looks like the last guy but had more personality. Mos was a bloated mess and this movie looks like it had some cuts that could have made it a bloated mess, good on Gunn for trimming it down.

Superman first day on the job vs. Superman 3 years into it TBF.
This Superman wasn't weak, but those were powerhouse characters going against powerhouse characters. This felt more like Superman: TAS where he was still really strong but could feel vulnerable at times.
literally his clone with Lex Luther controlling him like a video game. It was a fresh take on that troupe to of the superhero fighting a robot or clone that’s been programmed to predict all his moves
I love that Superman gets hit and feels it of it’s someone near his level instead of having to rely on Kryptonite to damage him.
Also, there’s some retconning regarding Man of Steel. I’m pretty sure he got his ass beat for most of the movie until the end. He got straight up Ko’d by the kryptonians in Smallville before they suddenly can’t function without their helmets. Then he’s losing to Zod the entire fight despite Zod not being experienced with his powers until he is suddenly able to hold him down and snap his neck. That whole fight showed zero damage to any of them nor did it show Zod getting worn down, then it just ends because it’s time to wrap it up.
In this you can see physical damage taking place, guys spitting blood, broken bones, as it should be.

Superman wasn't weak. He literally held up a skyscraper and a big ass Kaiju.
However, they had to show that he's not invincible. Literally, the biggest complaint most casual people have about Superman is that he's "boring and overpowered".
Ive also been critical of the choices of movies/shows in this new DCU as well.
Clayface, supergirl, sgt rock, creature commandos, peacemaker..not necessarily projects that are ringing bells, not like superman. These are passion projects.
Lanterns would, but as a TV show project im not sure if thats the right decision either, that should be a movie.
I think there should be more of an emphasis on bigger names before you pivot to these supplemental characters.
just read fans are speculating that Gunn is aiming for the Oz storyline. Which means Dr. Manhattan is in the cut manipulating events. He has saved Jor El from krypton destruction etc etc I’m being lazy at work lol but yeah. I can see Gunn doing this. i questioned why Bradley Cooper? But I can see the vision now if that’s the case

He's 2/2 so far IMO with this joint and Creature Commandos (guess this upcoming season of Peacemaker will be his 3rd entry, sure it will be good fukkery).

If they needed someone to interface with Fortress computers; create weapons from their body; hold Superman prisoner with Kryptonite; and go toe-to-toe with Superman in a fight then they should have combined The Engineer, Ultraman and Metamorpho characters into Metallo.
With only one character, it could've had an actual arc. Maybe he's being Kryptonite powered, but Luthor is disappointed with the outcome so takes out the Kryptonite for another project and puts Metallo on cold storage. Metallo's body is off but his mind keeps racing: vowing revenge. Luther gets another chance to show how disposable people are to him.
