This is actually very fair, good call. Don't agree about George Reeves being the standard, but there are many different interpretations of the characters and superman didnt begin at "death of Superman"Lets be real. Most of the folks claiming "You don't know Superman because you don't read the comics" have probably never read a Superman comic issue prior to the year 2000. The Superman character is over 80 years old. You don't ever need to read a comic book to understand who Superman is. Here is a sample of Superman in TV and movies over the years:
The Adventures of Superman (1952 -1958)
The Adventures of Superboy (1966 - 1969)
Super Friends (1973 -1985)
Superman movies I - IV (1978,1980, 1983,1987)
Superboy (1988 -1992)
Lois & Clark (1993 -1997)
Smallville (2001 -2017)
George Reeves portrayal of Superman is still considered the most comic accurate portrayal on screen, and anyone who actually watches a few episodes will agree. Gunn's Superman is a hodgepodge of 3-4 Elseworld stories, so ultimately, its no more comic accurate than any of the portrayal in the list above. So if someone doesn't like the Corenswet's Superman, its more than a fair assessment simply because the general audience has had plenty of exposure to the character to make such a judgement.
Fair, but Cakebatter said "the most comic-accurate" Superman.George Reeves is very close to the Golden Age Supes.
It's a mixture of many inspirations. Here's a post from Gunn last year:I don't think Gunn's interpretation is Silver Age at all. I see Bronze Age post Crisis. Him tweeting that he read and loved Byrne's complete run, I think, confirms that.
They have had meta-humans on earth for 300 years. I'm sure the technology exists. Maybe even another meta-human was able to decipher it for them, or give them a Rosetta stone type of device.
If you "love" Man of Steel, I doubt you'll be a fan of this movie. Is this better than Man of Steel? I love that movie
I forgot who is was but someone on the film has parents from that area. they would call everyday and leave voices messages. Ma and Pa kent mimicked their accents.Same! I really thought they were more caricatures of midwestern people. You can be country and not come across as slow or like you’re embodying the the stereotype. Ma Kent especially.
In Snyder film he spends the entire movie giving zero fukks about all the mass death around him. Hell on some occasions he is the initiator of said death. How many people died alone from that gas explosion when he threw Zod into the Gas station. Not only that but while the building was crumbling and people were dying as highlighted by BVS he simply made zero effort to try and rescue even one person. Bare in mind we know people were in the buildings according to BVS meaning his super hearing was picking up all these deaths but he remained ever stoic and just continued slamming into Zod.
When a being like Superman fights collateral damage is bound to occur the difference is how he reacts in those situations and efforts made to minimise casualties and save as much people as possible. Then all of a sudden at the end of the movie we are to believe he gives a dam about a family of three?![]()
Let’s be honest in a life and death situation and you had to pick one of the two Supermen to save your life if your honest with yourself everyone knows which of the two they would want to try and save them…and it’s the one that actually gives a fukk.

. Plus, just what we saw in future movies where he looked like he sat on the foot of bed for 30 minutes before putting his boots on to save the day with the "
" validated the criticism.Well considering there was people a few metres away we can also assume that people were hiding in it. We know buildings were occupied according to BVS so he was hearing all those deaths and still carrying on. The indifference comes seemingly from his apparent lack of care.It was a parking garage and we can assume it was empty. Should he have stopped it? Yeah
He never showed any indifference because every moment he was in the heat of battle with Zod, and I am sure Zod was intentionally trying to kill as many people as possible at that point after the terra forming device was destroyed by Superman.
And even that wouldn’t have happened if you know Snyder made an active effort to show Superman being Superman in those moments.Folks still clinging to the first half of the movie. We get it,first pre-Lois half of Man Of Steel is arguably the goat first half to any comic book movie
The idea of a nomadic superman who has to continue to uproot himself because he cant stop saving people and revealing himself is genius
And as much as i hated the Snyderverse and horrible second half of MOS, i never really liked this talking point about the destruction and casualtys. And i think i think it caught some undoe hate because of the Avengers. But i think throughout history weve always just suspended disbelief and ASSUMED the buildings and cars were empty lol.
Problem is BVS came along and made it where you could no longer assume. There were people in the buildings.
His disregard for tearing up shyt earlier in the movie. The way he was always quick as hell to hear Lois, but not people in those buildings. Plus, just what we saw in future movies where he looked like he sat on the foot of bed for 30 minutes before putting his boots on to save the day with the "
" validated the criticism.
The hate Man Of Steel got for destruction was mostly unjustified as a standalone. But it later became a fair assesment based on what else we saw.

Y'all do know superman been the same age in almost all the movies...I mean, this Superman is younger, so it's fitting that Lex is younger
Nah, Nathan Fillion is great casting for Guy Gardner. Also, I didn't notice a beer belly.
Why are you telling me this? Tell the poster I was replying to.Y'all do know superman been the same age in almost all the movies...
He's 30 here.
he was 27 in '78
he was about 30ish in MOS
And even that wouldn’t have happened if you know Snyder made an active effort to show Superman being Superman in those moments.

Bro, they drastically changed Superman’s possible origins and you wanna pull out the “it’s just one movie, let it play out” excuse?Movies dont have to always show it .... why cant it generate discussions like we are having here.
ALSO ... this is ONLY ONE movie ... stuff will get flushed out. the fact metas have been around for 300 years means we have knowledge of stuff.
