Kryptonians believing humans are inferior and backwards is fine. Kryptonians believing in conquest & racial supremacy is NOT fine.

According to this comment, Gunn says there's no more to the story:

I hate this and don't know why Gunn is doing this. It's very common in Gunn's projects for him to make biological fathers trash and adoptive fathers good/better than the bio fathers.

I never thought that he would do this with Superman and Jor-El :francis:
Good point I didn’t think about that.

It didn't undercut anything. Why should Superman be trusted? Maybe because for the last three years and counting he's done everything in his power to save humanity from all types of metahuman shyt.

Ask the Jarhanpur if they trust Superman :mjlol:

It's like you didn't watch the movie.... This is my last reply, you just felt like arguing today
And it's like you don't understand anything I said.

Anyway, if I'm just a regular human in the DCU after the message from Superman's biological parents, I would definitely start looking at Superman in a funny light. Of course, not all humans will do that, but many will, and it will be justified for them to feel that way. There's no way to fully know that Superman won't ever start fulfilling his "mission". His superhero work could all just be an act.

Also, it was the first half of Jor-El and Lara's message that inspired him to start doing superhero work in the first place. Imagine if he heard the second half of the message before he became Superman. Potentially, he would've listened to it? In that case, humanity would've been f*cked.

Personally, I don't have a problem with the message. I think the El's view us as lesser, backwards people and someone from their society can improve and advance us to be more Krypton like, and for their son to keep the kryptonian blood line alive.
But it'll probably be revealed it was a bad translation to make it come off as nefarious.

You get it,only thing wrong with the message is that its coming from a alien and it got out publically.

Taking many wives? Only evil in Babylon but perfectly normal in many cultures to carry on your legacy.

Lord over the earth and guide humans? How is a Superman who has umcomprimising morals lording over the earth a bad thing:gucci:?

All Clark hears in the message was kill people because

a)he good to such a fault its a weakness and he doesnt believe in killing anybody
B) hes xenophobic and sees polygamy thats practiced in many cultures as weird due to his American programming. Still believes in fake american values like "democracy".

Like i said, the message doesnt need to be retconned because the position the kryptone are coming from is same grey area that America and other superpowers operate in. For whatever reason people think Clarks parents would assume he would be evil,or raised to where he would become a homicidal tyrant and rapist. Maybe they assumed he would be raised right, and actually end up a good and gracious king:wow:

The reactions to the the message really is just highlighting peoples xenophobia:respect:#MESSAGE

I agree, I like the concept of the Lois interview scene but for someone that is supposed to be 30 and with a career as a journalist he came across as very naïve and him being on duty for only 3 years is a weak excuse.

Just cause he is a career journalist doesn't mean he can't be rattled. Lois is the Michael Jordan of investigative reporters. Clark is a part time journalist who's not used to facing a real interview. She could be taking it easy on him and still rattle him without trying

Yup, the point Lois was trying to make was that Clark giving himself fluff interviews made him unprepared to answer tough questions and that he wasn’t really thinking about the consequences of his actions.

You're talking just to talk right now..... nothing you are saying makes sense. It was made clear in the movie that nobody is making Superman do anything.

A 30 year old man, that is also a journalist, part time or not would understand diplomatic tension, he plain did not understand why what he did was an issue, I can only buy that from a youngster, not someone his age

Regarding the message, one thing I've seen other people say on it was that the message doesn't really matter. He's Superman because he feels the need to do the right thing regardless of a "mission". That's a good takeaway from it even though I'm still iffy on if I like it being used/confirmed real. It made me think of the Viltrumites.

I see that you don't have that ability to read between the lines.

:francis:

You mean how MAGA thinks (and is possibly right) about Israel being made to look like the tyrants they are in the movie? You're trying to paint the movie as MAGA propaganda when in reality MAGA are the people who are telling everyone "don't see it" because they caught feelings lmaoo

Looks like you took the wrong messages.

I never said the movie was MAGA propaganda. I said that turning Superman's immigrant heritage into something to be suspicious of actually aligns closer to the MAGA viewpoint than Gunn thinks.

Regardless, that's not my main point. Making Superman's biological parents racial supremacists is BAD, no matter what BS reasoning Gunn wants to come up with.

MAGA doesn't see it that way now do they? :mjlol: You're just trying to spin it into you're own talking point, something 99% of people aren't talking about at all
