Superman teaming up with Lex doesn't really make sense to me? Superman saw Lex kill an innocent man right in front of him. Lex is Supes #1 hater and wants to see him DEAD.

IDK, they're going to have to do some complete bullsh!t to make Superman and Lex team up, even temporarily (if that is actually what is going to happen).

It'll probably be on some "We'll team up this one time to stop Brainiac from destroying the Earth" type of shyt.

But I'm on the same page. Hoult was great as Luthor but I do feel like Luthor is overused in Superman adaptations. He was already the villain in most of the OG movies, the 2006 movie, BvS, the Superman/Supergirl CW shows. etc.

Wouldn't be the worst thing to give Luthor a timeout for a movie and let other villains get some shine.

I dont read comics but I can see Brianac or whoever giving earth that work and Lex gets in position to get out of jail and "redeem" himself saving the day which essentially shyts on Superman in the same breath.

Yeah, I agree.

I was thinking that they should let Lex be in prison for the entirety of DCU Superman movie #2 and have one of Brainiac/Mr. Mxy/Parasite/Mongul be the villain. Then, Lex could return for DCU Superman movie #3 or 4 (but as a supporting villain, not the main one).

Remember Supergirl comes out next yr, so Lex will be in Jail still. DCU per Gunn seems to be in real time and not the world stops until the next property you last saw someone returns. There is going to be a movie and shows going on while Lex is in jail so come 2027 it won't really be like Lex went to jail last week, a ton of events and movies would have passed since then.

Sure, but my point is that Lex doesn't need to reappear until a third or fourth DCU Superman movie.

Superman has plenty of villains that can hold the spotlight for a movie without Lex being involved. Literally only 1 Superman live-action movie hasn't featured Lex Luthor (and that was the mediocre Superman III in 1983).

I hear you and this could be semantics but I`m more so saying the approach Gunn seams to be taking is every DCU property is showing a light on a day in the life of that universe and the title of the film more so shows who the focus of the story is/POV but it isn't necessarily a contained movie like in the MCU. So if this comes out in 2027 technically 2-3 movies + TV shows would have happened (instead of looking at it as in 2027 the second movie occurs).

We getting a Super film every year lol, Man of Tomorrow would be perfect to intro Batman in the cut.
I actually see us getting a Bruce/Batman mention for it. By 2027 they should be much much further ahead far as casting of Batman, Wonder Woman, and most of the major Justice League cast. I see us getting a legit Justice League movie or announcement by like 2028 or 2029 :ohlawd:

I think Clayface will plant seeds and maybe even tease a post credit, and the way Gunn explained how the DCU works, everyone already exist and are doing their own thing so you can weave known people like Batman and Wonder Woman who dont need origin stories in and out of everything even if its just easter eggs or cameos outside of costume.

I think we are too conditioned to the MCU formula where nothing can exist until you get your origin film and Gunn seems to want to flip that concept on its head and just tell good stories.

making a Clayface movie set in Gotham with an unknown actor before establishing a Batman or a "cinematic universe" is fukkin insanity. regardless of how good the script is, i don't understand how they fast-tracked that

It got fast tracked because Gunn loved the script by Flanagan and they got James Watkins to direct. Low budget, horror writer/filmmakers in place. Plus, it's WB and they usually don't miss when it comes to horror.
