I still don't think the NBA is going to get a TV deal like that.

Turner Sports has money. As does Disney. But Disney has put in A LOT of money on other sports leagues including getting the NHL back.

Turner right now is paying $1.2 billion per year for the NBA which includes operating NBA TV, NBA.com, the All Star Game, and one of the Conference Finals. Disney is paying $1.4 billion per year for exclusive highlights, the NBA Finals, and the NBA Draft.

Even if they both double their current outlays... where is the NBA gonna get another $3 billion per year from?

They won't.

People keep overlooking the aspect that the reason those amounts are as high as they are currently is because Turner and Disney were essentially competing with themselves during the last round of negotiations. Even the NFL didn't get the exact amount that they were originally looking for as the networks balked at their asking price.

It's going to be the same go around this time with Disney and Turner competing against themselves unless an Amazon comes into the fold and makes a bid. That isn't likely though as they don't have the infrastructure in place to compete with the sports networks right now.

gambling? They have stuck deals with all these gambling companies and it will be legal probably nationwide in 3-5 years. There's too much money out there that states are leaving on the table and NBA has deals with all the sports books to get a piece of the backend. Also I can see Amazon or Apple giving them a billion for non-ESPN/TNT streaming rights.

Amazon and Apple have the money and resources, but not the infrastructure in the place to jump the fold like that right now.

International TV deals... 2nd most popular sport after soccer worldwide

edit: and streaming rights of course.

They're hoping one of these companies will pay for streaming rights, which they probably will.

These companies need something to get more people to subscribe to their streaming networks

Disney may pay more to put NBA games on ESPN+, same with Turner and Paramount+ or Amazon Fire or Hulu, etc

NBA league pass as a throw in to HBO Max (Warner media's, turner's parent company, streaming service) would be :wow:

I'm talking about NBA just selling them League Pass
Infrastructure is already there
Amazon is just using NFL Network resources for TNF

Don't forget that Amazon got TNF sorely because no one else wanted it nor bothered to make a bid on it. Also, NBA TV is a step down production and resources wise compared to the NFL Network.

and yet Bezos paid 10 Billion dollars for it because who cares about anyone else, he want eyes on Prime and the NFL gets people over there
If he can get access to all non-ESPN/TNT games and can add them to a Prime Sports package they might pay the price

Which is exactly why I said that he was competing against himself for the right to TNF just as ESPN and TNT did for the during the last round of negotiations. They are not getting the triple amount that they are asking for unless Amazon comes in with a godfather offer as no one else has the money like that to spare right now. There's not even a guarantee that will even happen ayways.

Even the NFL didn't even get the exact amount that they really wanted because everyone told them to fukk off when their demands came out. If they couldn't get their asking price and they are kings of television and sports right now, then the NBA won't either.
