For years everybody used to debate who the best Wu members were. When this album dropped that debate came to an end:russ:

I remember those days. A younger me preferred Masta Killa, but once Ghost came through with the WCW championship belt and talking about eating grouper...that opinion changed REAL quick.

I was always a bigger Rae fan but I started to lean more toward Ghost after Forever dropped. SC made me a convert:lawd:

This is the album that saved the Wu from extinction with the hip hop game going towards a more southern approach for the time. After Wu Tang Forever, the crew started to fall off with mediocre to garbage albums (well Bobby Digital was alright). Then out of nowhere Ghostface drops Supreme Clientele which blew my friggin mind. The lyrics were wacky in a Camp Lo on acid type of way, the beat selection:blessed::blessed:, the features, and even the skits made the album feel timeless. Hell, you can put that album on now and it would sound modern because of how futureproof the shyt was. There's one thing you can say about Ghost, dude knows the game and knows hip hop to the tee. Him and Rae were one of the first dudes to introduce that mob shyt on the purple tape while folks were still drinking 40s on the stoop, Ghost was talking about Wallabes when them shyts were just word of mouth, and he pretty much open the manhole to the underground scene that folks kept walking over.

To this very day, I haven't heard a bad album from Ghost...even that R and B album Ghostdini was flames:obama:.

Agree with everything here except that I think that the Wu's second string of albums/the ones past 1997, are better than some try to make them out to be. They just weren't as good as the first string albums. Bobby Digital, Tical 2000, Redemption, The Pillage, Uncontrolled Substance and Beneath the Surface are all good albums but nowhere near as quality as the albums from 93-97. Had some highlights but not a big fan of Immobilarity.

After this and The W. Rza should have let Ghost direct the Wu sound from that point on. A very big missed opportunity imo.

Well history has shown that ALL dynasties come to an end. Especially in music. Wu wasn't gonna be at the Top of the game and putting out the best music forever. But their 93-97 run is up there with the best. There was just too many members and diverse personalities to realistically expect them to be as tight knit musically as they were when they were younger. At the end of the day they never broke up and are musical icons, game changers and still have MCs who consistently put out good music and can bust ass on the mic. What more can we ask for?

Also: It may be years too late, but Ghost is spearheading the upcoming group album. Should be interesting. I have faith in Starks so I know it's gonna be dope.

All these albums were good except I cant co sign you on the Pillage breh:russ:

That flood really kinda fukked with the Wu sound a bit. Not to mention RZA was committing himself to being more digital. I do think Deck got done dirty tho. No way his first solo shoulda dropped after Forever. That album woulda fit perfectly between Liquid Swords and Ironman

I mean sure...listening to those albums now they didn't deserve to receive the flack that it did. I'm going by the judgement as a listener during that time. I remember when Tidcal 2000 was considered garbage in comparison to Tidal which was insanity because of the bar that was raised with hip hop in the 90s. The Pillage was even considered a dud, that's how crazy the fanbase was compared to nowadays where those albums would be certified classics or slept on gems. From a perspective of a listener growing up in Philly, I missed the days of that grimey ass RZA production and those albums weren't cutting it. Then Supreme Clientele came and all was better in the world.

I used to just sit with my boy and play dreamcast and drink 40's and have this album on repeat. Epic. Just Epic.

Good times. I miss these days. That's how me and my nikkas was.

We'd put on Supreme Clientele, play Madden or some shyt, have some food and just zone out :wow:

Now we don't even hang out no more. :mjcry:

Tical 2000 was good but you could tell Def Jam was trying to force Meth to have next. Meth never seemed like he wanted to be the King of NY. Plus the album had way too many skits. I listened to it not too long ago and its a dope album. It just seemed real corny to me when it first dropped

Yeah, Meth always seemed cool with just being a team player and if you noticed, he's ALWAYS at his best when he on group projects.
