Lazy ass NYPD officers somewhere making 100k plus a year and you talking bout if you can make it here you can make it anywhere like you just can't pass a bullshyt fitness test and join the FDNY or NYPD or get a MTA job and coast thru life for 20 years and retire with a fat ass pension down south:mjlol:

You New Yorkers can be quite self absorbed its adorable.
That nikka mad cause all I pointed out was nothing he stated is something unique to NY. nikka can't have been in the streets because that dynamic he posted about is everywhere 😂

The guy who started the thread ain't been on here, since right after he made the thread 🤣

Speaking for myself, if I could redo life, I wouldn't live it the same way again. Granted, the way my life has played out, is what made me who I am today, but I also think we live an existence that I could have made different choices, that woulda made me a more mature and developed man, earlier than I did.

I don't have many regrets, I can count how many things I actually "regret" on one hand---->but that ain't the same thing as saying I'd do everything the same, because I wouldn't.

I think you're closer to my age then OPs. its unfair to compare our experiences to theirs from that era.

its like comparing Larry bird to KG....2 different era....2 different games.

I follow this line of thinking to a degree, and agree from the standpoint of, you and I are the same age and came up in a different era from OP. I generally say that if someone was outside a full decade prior to you, that's an entirely different era.

In this thread if I recall correctly, OP said he jumped out after Rich Porter died, and was done some time in '96. I "jumped off the porch" in 2004, 15 years old. My beginning and OP's ending were ~8 years apart, so there's some overlap in era, and I say this double because when I came outside there were still guys from the 90s around. The generational gap wasn't a great one because a number of those guys were still around and I and other youngins were following their lead.

I can't speak to New York specific culture or trends, I'm not from New York and my travels in the streets never took me there. But the stuff homie described earlier, the competition outside, the "wolves", nothing he described earlier was specific to NY...

There were nikkas in the same game across the country in the same environment, same time OP was active 1990-96. So I guess my thing also is, the era OP was active in, and the era homie earlier said was special, ain't that far removed from when people my era started running around, it really wasn't all that foreign. Differences sure, and the shyt in NY where cats have to "rent space" to trap on a block is some shyt unique, I never experienced that. Everywhere I been that drug money was free enterprise.

But overall I think my familiarity from being around kids of the 90s also shapes my perception!

I think geography, social class, and what narcotic you're pumping make all the difference. all 3 of those will greatly impact the game. theres so many layers

My initial point was the shyt homie described. Was going on elsewhere, at the same time it was happening in New York.

Hardest drug I ever touched was crack. Me pumping grams of crack in 2005-06 is a different climate than someone pumping it in 1991-92, but the guys pumping it in '92 were experiencing a similar environment everywhere. The guys pumping it in '06 were experiencing a similar environment everywhere (hand to hand sales).

The gap between '92 and '06 is significant when talking about how shyt was still kinda wide open, I get that. But those crime laws started sweeping nikkas in the mid to late 90s everywhere, and started changing how brazen you could be on your block. By the time 2004 came there were still 90s guys around so culturally we weren't that far removed from that era---->all them nikkas told us was about how special the 90s was 🤣 😂 and then you realize you having 95% of the same experiences these nikkas was having back then 🤣

He made a dope ass thread and just vanished
He was already mid-40s when he made this thread, and I think somewhere in here he mentioned he had a great career and family life. He made an account out of curiosity and to vent but he didn't need to be here, I respect it. Hopefully when I find my Queen and have a great home life I'm off this shyt too, I'm 36 so I still got time 🤣 homie was like 44 or something when he made this thread.
