Don't listen to this dude. I did some research because I was thinking about trying it. I made a pie with butternut squash in Brazil because I thought it was pumpkin (they don't have real sweet potatoes) and it doesn't compare to sweet potato pie.
Even somebody using diff ingredients wouldn't make it taste better than sweet potato pie.

You should have let somebody make it that knew what they were doing.
It wouldn't matter, the taste of the squash just doesn't compare to the taste of a sweet potato.
