Swizz is such a garbage producer, son has maybe 5 hot beats total in his career :francis: :mjlol:

This here.

I used to defend this dude a lot in the late 90's, when I was a kid. I thought he was getting a lot of hate for no reason. Then time went on, and I realized his success was really just on the back of trends at the time and the artists who gave him looks from '98-'99. After his one-year run and peak, basically everything he did, away from a few tracks, was mad trash.

He became a household name and was down with a crew that was in their prime due to X, but the actual music he was throwing at people after '99, is damn near embarrassing to even listen to today. He makes a lot of friends in the business and he's a good dude, but musically, he's one of the industry's biggest jokes on the beats. And has been for over two decades. Sh*t is crazy.

For some reason those 5-10 beats are enough for some to consider him top level producer, never understood that.

One day, The Booth will realize the world is bigger than most of what is posted on here.

You don't see much of anything mentioned of Swizz as an elite and you certainly don't hear people talk about Swizz being a wack producer.

I'm convinced that most posters on here don't like anything that:

1) has drums

2) doesn't have a sample or at least sounds like it samples something

I've seen a lot of classic beats dismissed as wack on here in the past few weeks just because.

Swizz was always a bit of a social climber IMO. Him being buddies with Jay and big in his ecosystem, wifing Alicia Keys, being visible in the NY art scene, enrolled at Harvard, investing in startups etc etc

It seems like he's known for the classic late 90s joints he had, a few pop crossovers but really he networks and operates at a high-level in the game and is heavy on social media.

I never really dug his "beats" like that, but I like the energy he brings to records and he definitely has classics

U know Nas didn't say he was a dead beat. He said he was on the road alot when he had destiny and feels like he could've been better even tho he provided for her. Which makes sense being that he had Destiny as his career took off and he wasn't married to Carmen. This is literally an issue most single parent celebrities have. They are on the road alot. shyt evej married ones. Even the mothers. Which is why they have nannies n all kinda shyt.
I can only go by what Nas said.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
When I found out swizz sampled a goddamn preset for Down Bottom I vowed I’d never listen to another one of his beats and I’ve kept that vow

Mad producers do this. So u would have to erase mad songs from ur library. Still. That is SUPER disappointing for Down Bottom tho. Either way even Dre has beats that he's done basically nothing to. Lol.
