I get the impression she grew up with money...she even said in an interview that "my family had means" when describing having her own studio in her home growing up" to practice and experiment on her style

Yeah I think her and taco came from a middle class family.

Looking forward to this project from her though.

I adore everything from syd. Didn't think a boyish dyke from cali could be my favorite new r&b artist, but it's a sign of the times.

Syd can do no wrong in my eyes. And fin was dope. I thought it would grow on me more but only a couple of tracks I vibe with heavy.

damn, was there another discussion thread on this? this is thread is all announcement/fin discussion :heh:

i know it's just 3 songs, but this shyt hits heavy. all three songs are so different. the "what about us" sample been done to death, but she did it justice on "no looking back" and "moving mountains" is just a great relationship song period. "on the road" is nice vibin music, bass hittin so hard :noah:

I like Syd, but Fin didn’t do as much for me as I wanted it too. I felt like it was a bit “bland”.

Ego Death was one of my favorite as of recent releases, but after it was pointed out how doctored her vocals are, lots of her releases lost quite a bit of luster for me.

Yep, that's been my only complaint. She sounded great on Feel Good and Ego Death, but since then, her vocal limitations have been revealed. Fortunately the music she makes is just that dope to me that I can overlook it, but it's certainly a flaw.

Sid was never really THAT vocally gifted but she can hold a note. So what vocal “limitations” are we even talking about exactly? I like her, but yeah..
