I'll say this. I see where T-Boz is coming from. But, I think Nicki has more business sense than her.
Left Eye explained that in her documentary(the one which included her car accident). For every album they sold, they got 6(or 7, I forgot) cents. After taxes, label fees, marketing, production costs, etc, they end up with a few 100k to split 3 ways. That ain't shyt when you have bills, gotta eat and, take care of family, and catch flights all the time.
I swear the record biz needs to be regulated...shyt is shady as fukk. If a record cost $12 at the counter, and sold 5 million in total and the label put up 2 million to produce it. that's still 60 million. How the fukk do you take all the money and give back $70,000 to the artist
It aint that much overhead in the world TLC sold 55 million records x $12 (typical album cost) = $660,000,000.00 USD
Label - 11.93 cents per album = $656,150,000.00 USD
TLC - 7 cents per album = $3,850,000.00 USD
Obviously, this is hella simplistic, doesn't account for taxes, distribution/manufacturing costs/retailer fees etc. but, either way, label made a shytload of money. Made a fukkin fortune just give back pennies
Then, on top of that, all the costs & fees associated with recording an album (studio time, writers, beats, advance check, touring costs, etc.), that's not debited from that big ass slice, that's debited from that little old 7 cents 
I would pay top dollar to be able to look at the books from a record label. I already know their accounting methods are

Most people on here are not saying that. Saying "I hope .... Dies" now that is extreme.
I used to be a fan of hers before she sold out and horribly dumbed down her lyrics, I just can't stand listening to her. That's just how I feel about her.
She wuz just the pretty one basically but she damn sure wuznt carryin nuthin,just played her position well....don't know what she did behind the scenes besides fuk Dallas Austin....and obviously he wuznt givin em no free beats so her role is overated far as I'm concerned....u fukin for what...oh love?

the funny thing is, not only dis dallas charge them, but he allegedly over-priced his beats on top of that.
remember that "behind the music" when left eye was clowning his prices like "youre not babyface!!".
and the impression that they gave off was that chilli sided with dallas in the midst of that f*ckery.
