no label is going to spend 50 million on a guy that has shown that he's NOTHING but a liability. he's finished. how many chances did he get?

It's not a question of whether he and all of his business ventures included are worth what he's asking for. It's basically him saying it's all or nothing.

T.I. has proven that he can move units. It's not even about whether he can go platinum or have Top 10 hits (only three or four rappers in the past two years have done that). T.I. still had one of the highest selling rap albums of last year without much airplay. He didn't even drop the obvious songs as singles ("Guns and Roses" w/ Pink or "Cruisin'").

People are like he's not going platinum or doesn't have top 10 hits, but only six rappers have done it since Paper Trail. Only Drake, Nicki, Jay, Kanye, Wayne, and Eminem have done that. That's nearly five years ago.

If I am and artist of any magnitude.... I drop the label. Do a kickstarter. Keep ALL the money and then put the album out for free. Then do a fan vote for a FEW features and a FEW producers.... I would pay some dude I trust to dig deep in the internets for cheap beats....

This kickstarter shyt works, granted his audience might not be up on it, but any indie rock artist fukking with labels is dumb.

Imagine a bytch like Madonna doing a kickstarter for 5 million, cutting an album and dropping it for free after keeping ALL THE MONEY minus expenses.

He doesn't really need the restraints of a label. He can move units on his own.

It would be nice if he made some better music though.

Didn't David Banner try something like this? Dropped his album for free and hasn't been heard from since...

Madonna got $120 M's from LiveNation .... why would she do this?

as the saying goes, "why spend my money..when i can spend yours?"

y'all so in love with the DIY aspect of hip hop, that you forget at the top levels, nobody does it by themselves.

:patrice: mega u is one ill poster!!! :salute:

I have a family member who has been negotiating deals for awhile in the industry said the EXACT SAME THING years ago when i asked him bout superstars like Madonna signing 360 deals from Live Nation.....

and he said 360 DEALS benifit people like Madonna and Jay-z who need a third party to help coordinate all the different ventures they have under one umbrella...

thier basically TOO LARGE as a BRAND to have a DIY (do it yourself) approach, considering they are so GLOBAL in thier presence......
