Quoted for truthiness...
I disagree, but not totally. When I was maybe 7yrs old,I remember an incident where a white girl said that same line about me. Bothered me to my core. Made me look at the world thru CAC- eyes. I realized basically instantly that white people look at us as characters. And we either fit a mold or we not as black as someone else who does. The average negro also sees the world thru this view, that's because this is America, we are taught what they are taught. And not every black person will experience a nikka wake up moment

So in my case, I decided to remain myself. I didn't use slang to fit in because I was able to understand the quote/unquote "minstrel show"
So in the case of TO vs SAS, if TO called Steven that because Steve uses big words or because he didn't talk "street" then I would of had a huge problem with TO's actions. In this case, he was only stating a fact. Max's views more often than Steven A's align with the plights of African Americans. I understand your position, I've heard it before, I don't feel what TO did empowers white people to behave in a similar fashion for this reason. If a white person is down with the cause then they already know better. The ones who are not will use literally anything against you. So what's worse, what Steven A does possibly 5 days a week or a single segment where Steve gets checked.... hence why I don't agree with you completely
