Damn shame what has become of this franchise
why is it a shame? yall do realize they went at least a decade before seeing another ring post magic era. some of yall are too young to know that.
so reality is. NO ONE can win back to back rings forever. eventually you will keep guys a year too long and your ring teams will age out and new blood will pop up on other teams while you suck.
its the cycle.
there's nothing special going on now but the cba being different. has nothing to do with jim buss. and the "basketball reasons" nonsense that set us back from rebuilding super quickly. that was jim buss who did that along with an ailing doctor buss and mitch.
what FA's have the lakers really missed out on that were coming to the lakers even if buss was here?
NON.
the cba changed the money game. now every players current team can pay them more and give them more years. same with rookies coming off of their rookie deals. this is how the lakers use to get their one great FA. they will wait for him to grow up on another team then poach him for the money.
well thats not possible unless the player wants to take a pay cut. they dont.
the last thing you see that you didnt see is Doc Buss' era which has NOTHING to do with Jim buss. is that these new era young guys are afraid of a super winning culture that the lakers have built. They are afraid to come behind shaq, kareem,wil(dwight said it out of his own mouth.), or come behind magic, kobe, worthy( derozan just said it out of his own mouth.)
non of the above have anything to do with the lakers current front office. NOTHING.

whiteside still remembers the lakers passing up on him. many players get passed up when they are not showing the ability. so he's staying put in miami. makes sense for him. i bet the lakers aint trying to pay max for horford. batum was never going anywhere he said that himself and the lakers were not going to pay him the max because as good as he is, he 's not a max player. doesnt matter what the hornets gave him. kd aint coming to a team full of kids. and KD is a 1b guy mentally. he doesnt realize whatever team he goes to, others will follow just like they follow bron. he's that good. but he doesnt understand that concept. in his mind all he sees is a team full of kids. he doesnt realize the moment he signs. here comes horford.

so which FA did the lakers swing hard for and miss as if they ever had a shot to get them? no one.
and none of the FA's didnt sign due to the front office .
