And those Chinese that ran to Africa to steal from the mother land started programs for Africans to learn Chinese..Africans should insist they learn the native language of the Africans first, not the other way around. The power of language. I think for people that only speak one language, which may be European in origin may not understand the complexities surrounding language and having to learn someone elses language who couldnt be bothered to learn yours.

This is Tanzania we're talking bout here...they don't produce shyt, they even import food they used to grow back in the days, they are technologically eons behind, low literacy, corrupt as fukk, rural regions dont even have clean water, they couldnt even issue their citizens ID cards til 2013

They been dancing around this 'Kiswahili as a language for instruction in schools' for over 2 decades..
Its not a simple task to teach in Kiswahili, especially Science subjects
They jack most of the material from English books any fukking way..they have had to come up with new words for scientific terms.
If Tanzania was a developed nation, this would be hard but doable..but for one of the poorest countries in the world??
Its fukking stupid

Mr, Negroidal,

Thanks for those inputs.

All your points above perfectly describe a typical developing country. Let me just start by saying that our nation is a gift but at the same time a curse so let us try look at it from a fair perspective. It is true that we don't produce much at the moment because socialism or as I'd like to call the anti-privatization era killed most our industries (Nyerere's ego led him to ignore a lot of economists at that time). This definitely set us back half a century. However, like all the other developing nations who are going through the development stages, we are beginning to rediscover our own potential in our resources (recent discoveries of natural gas and oil). Despite that, its not a secret that we still seriously lag behind the rest in terms of physical and human capital (low education levels, high population growth rate, low life expectancy, high unemployment rates, commodity exports of raw materials rather than processed ingredients, majority of population lives in rural areas, poor technology etc.). To top it all, corruption is single-handedly ruining this country's reputation. We've been doing it wrong and wrong for decades. I blame the ruling party for putting this country into an immense shythole.

However, after having lived here for 3 plus years, I can sort of understand why the government would opt to kick out English. It's a huge risk that they are taking by opting to go with just Swahili but it sounds like a calculated risk. I am 100% sure that majority of the people in this country would prefer to focus on Swahili and to use it extensively in education.

For those who have ever visited this country would know that for the majority, Tanzanians and the English language rarely mix :manny:. Truthfully, from experience, speaking English is like eating a forbidden fruit, you can't speak it in public without people looking back and looking at you like :scust:. Hope this policy puts us in the right path because it will make it fair for a nation of people to communicate in a language in which they are comfortable. As an economist, this sounds like a good idea in terms of developing our human capital but we need to make sure that our youth are ready for the challenges and opportunities that can carry this country forward and put us on the global stage and not this egotistical thinking shyt that is presently at the core of our rotten government.

as a sidenote i think it's interesting that @Intruder v3.0 says he translates all his thoughts into english. your proficiency says otherwise, unless you are either part of an incredibly slim cognitive margin or you're using a translator (the latter of which im sure isnt true). you're largely thinking in english, according to everything we know about second language acquisition. it's a weird feeling and hard to pinpoint, as i know from personal experience. not really related to the topic, just something i picked up on in this thread
Well i wouldnt say all my thoughts. Ive been here long enought (20 years) to actually think in english now. But there are still quite a lof of things i struggle to do in english as it is not my native language.

I still count in french when counting things if not i find myself losing count. I still struggle with saying the alphabet in English. I remember in college when doing math and even simple arythmetics i still would be thinking it and doing it in french silently. Probably because when i initially learned these things it wasnt in english.

So. Cal
The american dollar and euro are not backed by anything.
Africa sits on the largest reserves of gold and diamonds. If africa had a centralized bank, and backed a unified currency with gold, it would crush the monopoly money that US and europe plays with.

Except they dont cuz they dumb as fukk over there nikka

:ufdup:Don't post proudly. Google that: "Sankara", "Lumumba",..., and have a seat about what really is the african

situation. These two wanted, hoped, acted, inspired and were stopped in plain sight.

Some country made some apology, late as usual....:wow:
Tell'em!

@bboystyle sounds likt ehr typical american who thinks America is the angel that crushes evil demons around the world and only harms black americans.

They realize that and figure they have nothing to lose so may as well go for it..being an English speaking country for a generation has obviously not worked, right?..

You say they are poor. Perhaps it is difficult for them to perform business and be confident in a language that is not their own and they do not want to own. Pride and dignity strengthens you to not take shyt, thats why Europeans insisted on native peoples abandoning your mothers tongue in favor of theirs. To take away your pride and sense of worth so they can control you and gain access to your resources..

The Commonwealth, ever heard of it genius??
Its a body of nations once colonized by Britain, and they are supposed to have a special relationship with the UK but really all the commonwealth is, is a way for British business and Government to make inroads into these former colonies and get first on any commodity, resource etc..

once again, people underestimate the true power of language..

Miss me with all this nonsense...i have been to Tanzania..i know what the fukk i'm talking bout

I'm all for all that National Pride and shyt..but this is a mistake.
I have seen how life is down there..the little English they teach have helped millions
Millions won't be able to get jobs, get visas, get scholarships
There are nothing but foreign companies down there.
Most if not all of the products made in that country come from foreign companies,Tanzania companies dont make shyt.
A lot of smart engineers and architects have bounced..
Tanzanians educated overseas never go back due to all the backward ass thinking going on down there.

English speaking country??Nah..Swahili has always been the main language
The public schools are just that shytty, even muhafukkas entering Universities can't speak English properly..now its bout to be 1000 times worse
They are too poor and depend too fukking much on foreign trade to pull this off.
But guess what?the elite doesnt give a shyt..

Be quiet. I answered Intruder's post when your post appeared.

I agree. The corruption is spread in Africa and some know you can't make true changes

without paying it, unofficially.
