Payin Debts.... N40
Well...looks like Target is going to lose out then.
They sound mad.
Well obviously they compete for album sales but in this case I think its because Beyonce's last studio jawn she went through them and they got exclusive content. This time she prolli didn't even go to them at all and they are mad. What kind of beef do they have with Itunes?![]()
They have to be. From a business perspective why would you miss out on the sales of one the biggest albums of the year? There's still money to be made and Target is packed wall to wall during holiday seasons.
Radioshack?what about circuit city?
Target doesn't make $16 off of CD's...Lol, ok, that's $15.99 less + lost additional revenue for target. The people who will pick this up as a gift, especially in stores like target and walmrt, are likely to make additional or impulse purchases, while one CD title isn't the end of the world, it definitely comes across as sour grapes.

Not really, people who like physical copies and those who prefer digital will still have their preference. They beyonce stans probably want a physical copy with booklets, photos, and liner note while the person who just wants the music is happy with a digital copy, IMO you still have people who have a clear preference for one or the other (or in the case of people like JT, bey, etc, they buy both)They're afraid of the changing market. If too many artists start to do this Target and other retailers like it are going to be missing out on a huge chunk of CD revenue.
Itunes is pretty much going to have the monopoly on first week releases. This is Target's way of protesting that.
what about circuit city?

Artists are doing that so they (or the label) can save or the manufacturing costs, but just as books, newspapers, and magazines may be struggling, physical copies won't see their death, at least not until my generation (the last raised on physical goods) dies. It's a slippery slope. More artists are doing first week iTunes only and soon we will see more iTunes exclusive albums (no physical copies at all) - I believe there have already been a few. While some people may still like physicals the potential for loss is still huge. Target is trying to nip this in the bud while they can. Its probably pointless since the other major retailers are still gladly carrying the albums, but I give them points for standing their ground.
Circuit City still open![]()
