I resent the idea that black people aren't allowed to have "fun" or enjoy ourselves in public. I think it's a mindset that's difficult to get rid of because we face so many daily attrocities I.e. racism, underemployment, over incarceration, etc. So there's this undrlying idea that we aren't entitled to fun until all our woes r resolved. But that's an unfair burden to place on someone. Black ppl are just as entitled to have to a good time as anyone else. We can laugh, joke, dance, goof off, be loud and silly as we see fit and regardless of whose around. Who is this guy or anyone else to take away or condemn someone for trying to have a good time. The pursuit of happiness is a human and God given right and black ppl deserve that just as much as anybody else, if not more.

The issue he raised wasn't that black ppl should not have fun until our issues are resolved. Not sure if you listened or not but a glaring example he gave was Baltimore.

When Freddie Gray was killed and he went out there, it was nikkas jigging and rapping instead of staying focused on the mission. Same for Ferguson. When they had the so called open forum on race in America on TV, it became a fukking talent show.

The issue isn't that we dance or have a good time. Hell, Tariq's nickname is based on his dancing background (Flex). The issue is when a serious issue is brought to the forefront the energy is then diminished by the bullshyt.

I think a big problem is people are mindless sheep. If you grow up without much positive influence from your parents/environment you will imitate anything you see in the media. Black people are portrayed in the media as either entertainers or thugs to a large degree. 99% of people don't fall into either one of those categories. However, if you don't have critical thinking skills and common sense you will fall into the stereotype trap. Then you have the blacks that don't want anything to do with being "black" so they go all the way to the other extreme and become "c00ns". In each case, the person is letting society and the media dictate their actions.

Man it's 2016 people should be able to see through most of this BS as it's so apparent nowadays. These protest movements which are really victimhood movements to gain attention or divert attention to another cause are pathetic. I even bought into the whole people are all generally good, take care of all the poor, we're all one mumbo jumbo when I was younger to an extent. However, life isn't fair and there will be people that succeed and people who will lose.

One skill every black person should strive to improve on is to learn how to sell themselves. Don't expect anyone to give you anything. If you can just get your head wrapped around no one owes you a damn thing you won't be disappointed. At the same time, if you can figure out a product/service to sell that is beneficial people aren't going to care if they like you they will buy. I'm not saying you have to go out and start a business but you can do something that separates you from co-workers. Maybe you can't code but you sure can sell products for a tech company like Salesforce. Screw complaining about not get a raise every year, find out a way to make more money. Too many people are worried about getting attention/fame/acceptance. I will gladly give up all 3 to be free to travel and go where I want as I please.
