Seems to be a lot of people that believe he was/is up there with the greats:leon:

I’m not gonna be disingenuous and act like he was trash. I’m a hip hop head. I had his first two cds. He was respected by his peers. He had skill. But he’s white. His skills have always been overhyped because of his race. When you compare his albums to other people he’s being compared against, you will see that his albums had absolutely zero impact on black culture. None of them shyts were memorable or influenced anything. Simply put, black people never really fukked with Eminem like that. It was more “yeah, that whiteboy can rap”. A whole lot of mothafukas can rap. For example Canibus. He had no impact as well. As this is before Eminem became trash.

Who gives a shyt?.... It's his list. He's entitled to put anyone he wants on his list based on his criteria. Why are people getting so emotional over a top 10,20 or 50 rappers list?.... I don't have a top rappers list because there are too many variables to list rappers in a numbered order. If I had to make a top 10 list, Eminem would not make the cut. I'm just not a fan of the shock, parody, subpar production or his voice. However, if I made a top 10 list based on skill, he would probably make the list. So I can understand how some people would put him in their top 10. And let's be honest. Most people only listen to a limited amount of rap music based on region, genre, and content. So any list they make has a lot of underlined bias attached too it.

I like Eminem, I take points away from him solely on his subject matter. Skill wise(actual talent), good luck finding 10-15 mcs that were better than Marshall in his prime.

Yes, I remember this cac was making songs about brain damage and other dumb ass shyt. That was his tolerable period. He was never up there with the greats. He was always overhyped.
I've been said that out of the rappers who are considered GOATS Eminem's discography has aged the absolute worst. He could've gotten away with this if he put Pac or BIG in the top 5, but the fact that he put them both behind Marshall made the Pac and Biggie fanbases form like Voltron against him.

I feel you. I don't generally don't like top 10 lists or put much stock into them. Everyone's criteria is so different.

So. Biggie and Pac been dead longer.

Which means they haven't been past their prime for a solid 20+ years. They died in their prime.
If by your own admission Em's peak was 20+ years ago....then how the fukk does he have a slot on any top 20 list? How does that work? :gucci:

I can make the argument that they've been out of their prime that long. How long has Rakim or Kane been out they prime. Who cares. Its Ihe impact u made. And Eminem made a huge impact over the span of his career.

And lets not act like he's not still capable of entertaining.

U big up 3stacks, how long has it been since he dropped anything that was dope?

Music is subjective. What I like u may hate and vice versa.
