I’m from Brooklyn a place where stars are born.
As a Haitian American this makes me proud as hell. The Haitian Revolution is a story with twist and turns. Love, betrayal, and bravery. Hopefully he does the battle of vertieres at the end because that battle is epic. Especially Capoix La Mort's charge where he was getting shot at,his horse got shot under him. He kept running telling his men to charge. Everytime my parents tell me that story I get chills down my spine.

.Tariq on the other hand, got the ball rolling with his own money and showed pictures and previews of the movie to come and asked for donations of any ammout. To reach his goal of $200,000 in a timely fashion, he said if you donate X amout you will recieve a dvd, t-shirt, poster, or your name will be in the producer portion of the movie.
Giving items for donations are not required, but if you are INVESTING, yes you have to give back the money that was invested to produce your product.

I always got a long with Zoes even before knowing about this hidden history. In my experience they are down to earth. Jamaicans, Africans, and other blacks from the West indies I never really got along with. They always had an air about them being better than black Americans. I got way more respect for Zoes, because they actually fought back.

I remember watching a documentary that spoke about how after independence Haiti was isolated from its neighbours from an economic perspective. That still doesn't explain how and why and what is holding back Haiti's success. But I can imagine it might have something to do with kikulacho ki nguoni mwako basically that which harms you is closer to you than you might think.
