The Caller isn't wrong tho, Tariq took it personal, because the caller is indirectly calling him out as well, African Americans worship LeBron James who refuse to speak on Tamir Rice and Timothy Russell & Malissa Williams who were shot "137 times" by the corrupt and out of control Cleveland police department....But he rushed to defend the spawn of white supremacist in "keaton" this is what the caller meant to articulate, Kobe Bryant has to wait to gather all the facts regarding Trayvon Martin.....See the pattern with these celebrities that black people worship.....now in my opinion black celebrities owe nothing to the community & shouldn't be obligated to be philanthropist and start charities and non-profit organizations, but don't speak out against systematic oppression, institutionalized racism, prison industrial complex, gentrification, Red-lining, Etc.... if you not going to use you're blessings to give back in some way

Interesting. I meant to create a thread about this point cause I've seen similar arguments

who is obligated to the community?
are Black celebrities not obligated after they've reached their status?
Does that also applies to non-celebrities?
If they're not obligated to help, then why are they obligated not to talk about certain topics?

Local Assemblyman and councilman, Senators, Mayor's, Governors, Borough president's Etc...People in local government that can make tangible things happen for us in our communities, Asian's, Jews, And other non-blacks have these things on lock in their communities, they act on their interest or they get the boot....now in my opinion black people started looking towards celebrity leadership when prominent figures like Kareem, Russell, Muhammad Ali became out spoken and jeopardized their careers for the black community speaking on racism in the 60s, but in 2018 that's no longer prevalent anymore, nikkaz is afraid to jeopardize sponsorships, endorsements, and alienate white people like Colin Kaepernick, he's been blackballed before our very eyes & nobody prominent came to his defense because it's not en vogue anymore, People Herald OJ Simpson as the standard Uncle Tom but all these nikkaz took his blueprint of transcending race through meritocratic means, they are not black anymore like that scene in "do the right thing" when Vito said Eddie Murphy, Magic Johnson, Prince Are not really Black "Black", and these people are not obligated to help us if they don't want to, their help should be supplemented by our entrepreneurship/ownership mentality first , 9 times out of 10 if we owned our communities and practiced group economics first, we would be the ones giving them scholarships and funding them on their road to mega-stardom in their respective fields, they would've automatically pumped money back into the community without us asking for it, I'm asking for men like Philip A.Payton Of the Harlem Renaissance Era who was a millionaire real estate agent that helped thousands of African Americans Find Housing in Harlem, and funded Marcus Garvey UNIA organization

What's the plan that you guys have that would help the Black community and isn't just a capitalist venture or just a lost cause money wise.

Let me elucidate because I'm not pocket watching and I CLEARLY Said these celebrities are not obligated to help the black community, that's their hard earned money and they can do whatever they want with their money....But what I'm saying is tariq is being hypocritical for getting funding from black people to make documentaries and movies, but he's shaming and disrespecting the brother for asking for some philanthropy from wealthy black people while basically doing the same exact thing, what you are essentially saying is no prominent black person wants to help the community because it's not beneficial or conducive to them, I think that's where "Charity" Comes from out of the kindness of your heart, but capitalism is not rooted in charity or philanthropy, every man for themselves right? I'm asking them to supplement the ownership/entrepreneurship mentality and financially back brilliant burgeoning minds in our community but it starts with us first, I'm noticing nikkaz think these dudes is above reproach and can do no wrong and anybody they criticized them has to be shamed
