No predictions on the snitch, but

1) Lizzie as a character - they're just writing someone that's hilariously unlikeable. I don't know what they're setting her up for. She's not the "savant"/House/Sherlock type. She might just be a person that we don't like, and that's like real life...but after Ep 3, I dunno what her purpose is.

2) I ain't watch Mare, but I'm not finding that Bruce Banner's personal story/family drama to really add anything to the plot. Unlike Ozark dude's family drama, which is central to the plot.

3) Ever since I saw Homeland, I'm convinced that Hollywood hates teenage girls/teenage daughters. They show up in these prestige shows, and they're just annoying as all get out.

4) They really gonna lean into this priest/Catholic thing? If this is a "my faith is renewed through police work/saving people...." I'll be disappointed.

5) "Me no Black Papi" backstory...+ Biker Gangs where I don't see any type of KKK/Nazi tattoos paraphernalia?

6) They're really nailing the blue collar/rust belt/meth head aesthetic though.

7) Sista gurl facing off against Blue Collar guy....for the diner set up? (which kinda mirrors what happens in the interrogation room with the tweaker..)

8) Sista Gurl with the domestic violence speech - are we seeing her as a master manipulator.

9) I don't know why the internet likes the 6 year old. Nothing about that kid says "Protect at all costs"

10) Maeve/the house/the sister/the wife - I had to break out a pen and pad to figure out their living situation

11) Ozark Dude and His Bro and the Biker Chick - I also had to break out a pen and pad to understand what was going on there.

12) They kept showing the skinny white dude - who looks like he'd fold quicker than an origami crane. The trope that the strong preys on the weak...kinda lazy.

So for the plot is solid. Ozark dude is killing it as usual. But some of these scenes got me really wondering what they're trying to tell me about these people AND why or why not it helps the story.

There's no "Time is a Flat Circle" guy in this show
There's no Vince/Jules repartee.

Boy Scout from House of the Dragon is staying in character between shows.

"Fun Fact" - the high school daughter is 26.

Some of the stuff may not be anything tying to the plot(Brandis family drama), but gives background on the character(s). Mare was the same way.

Background/Character work, imo, helps the viewer understand why the characters make the decisions that they make during the plot.

So Daredevil and his Catholicism explains a lot of what he does (and where he fails). More so in the comics than in the TV show.

Here, I'm trying to get a sense of what they're telling us about Lizzy, African Sista, and some of these other characters.

But if this is the creator's style, that's interesting too.

I don't care for the personal shyt either. Not sure what it adds. Maybe adding layers to the story.

Glad you took out a pen and pad, because I am not invested in this show like that to care.

Why you calling her sista gurl? Come on breh. I do agree about domestic violence speech, (it seems fake) and why did that other lady fold so quick and tell them everything?

Does anyone know how many episodes there are?

Sidenote: Not sure when this show was filmed, but there should be way more Eagles merch on screen.

With the exception of "Lizzie" and "Maeve" - I don't remember any of the names in this joint.
  1. Ozark Dude
  2. The kid (but not Ozark dude's niece and nephew)
  3. Bruce Banner
    1. not the daughter's name
    2. or the son
  4. House of the Dragon Guy
  5. Tough bytch Boss,
  6. That Random Voice of Reason Breh,
  7. Absolutely None of the Biker People
  8. Latino Partner in Crime, Dominican Papi...
I swear this show is worse than Anime when it comes to memorability.

Not using people's names in conversations is true to life, but sucks in terms of trying to keep track of people I don't know.

And I watch this with subtitles on

But they used ppl names a bunch, you just have to pay attention.

I watch it with subtitles too, which is why I know the black officer's name because it's spelled in unique way, Aleah. Subtitles are the reason i know most their names because I'd read a name and go "oh, that's so and so" etc.

  1. Ozark Dude
  2. The kid (but not Ozark dude's niece and nephew)
  3. Bruce Banner

  4. House of the Dragon Guy
  5. Tough bytch Boss,
  6. That Random Voice of Reason Breh,

  8. Latino Partner in Crime, Dominican Papi...
Listing this out in case some other ppl are confused.
1. Robbie - said a few times.
2. I think you may be confused on this or maybe I am on who you talking about. The lil kids are Robbie's kids, not his niece/nephew. Maeve is his niece. The kidnapped kid's name is Sam. They did a whole scene ep 1 or 2 of the daughter finding out the name and using google.
3. Tom Brandis. Said adopted daughter's name, Emily a few times. Bio daughter is Sara. Ethan was named dropped a few time but you got both of their names in the flashback they played to where they first came "home" after being adopted. Ethan and Emily were written on the cake/card.
4. They did a whole scene using his name at the bar and in the swat house. Grasso, they made several jokes with his name.
5. They said it but I didnt bother to remember it because I didnt think she was important :manny:
6. Not sure who you talking about, the priest or Freddy Frias(Drug dealer who bikers sat down with)?
7. They definitely dropped the names of the important biker people on a couple of occassions.
---Jayson/Jay - current head of Dark Hearts. Police said his name a couple times when they explained how he beat a dude to death(Maeve's dad/Robbie's brother). The task team went the bar and straight up said they looking for "Jayson Wilkes".
---Perry/Per - Was the former head of the Dark Hearts who groomed Jayson to take his place. He there to get shyt right since it seems Jayson fukking up.
---Eryn - Jayson's gf/wife and the one feeding info to Robbie. Was cheating on Jayson with Robbie's brother.
---Donna - Redhead that Perry keeps trying to holla at and asked for advice on what's goin on. The "mother hen".
8. They said his name several times in this episode(3). I want to say at least 6x, he was the main focus at the end. That's the "Cliff Broward" dude the police mentioned and who the thief/junky and his gf tried to rob. When they went to Peaches' jobsite, the coworker pointed out Cliff, which is how the police knew to go to his house.

She folded so quickly because Aleah saw how broken Shelly was from the abuse. Ray been abusing her for years. When Aleah first mentioned she "knew the shame", Shelly sorta scoffs at her on some "This bytch dont know what I'm going through". That's when Aleah showed her scars and told her story about almost being killed etc.

Beyond knowing character traits and background that may influence decisions and motivations, the family dynamic also helps the viewer (at least me personally) to get invested into the characters and want to see them do well and come out of this alive.

When a character you like is triumphant it gives you joy and when a character you like dies, it's a gut punch.

Pretty good show. First episode was a little shaky at first but got good. That last episode was the best one so far. My main gripe is the main dude, Robbie, is miscast.

Yea...the lack of racism from these hillbilly whites and the bikers is sticking out like a sore thumb. They don't have to go on some Tarantino-esque diatribe but these are the exact types known for being degenerate racist losers. Also, if you show their racism, it makes Freddie's story hit a lot harder.

These writers now a days always frame racism in a very "on the nose" and archaic sort of way, if they even bother to touch on it at all.

My guess is that they don't want to alienate the primary audience for this stuff.

Yea....the writers want to portray these guys as anti-heroes rather than flat out bad guys, and making them racist makes it harder to write them in a way that makes the audience root for them.

The black Said it in this week's episode.

"Your ppl would rather continue to overpay you than to work with me, now you wanna work together, f off. "

That's what he was talking about.
