Really liked the finale and the show was a solid entertaining watch. Not the greatest thing ever but every show isn't gonna be that.

If you didn't like this, that's cool but I think the hyper-critical nature of internet fans has them in a space where I don't think they can really enjoy anything without nitpicking. I was like that but took a stepback and things are way more enjoyable now.
I'm at the other end of the spectrum on this.

I think there's far too much fandom around film/TV now, largely popularized by comic book canon where folks just blindly defend shyt and it's fukked up everyone's ability to accurately judge material. Ain't no qualms around what folks find enjoyble, but there's a lot of posts in here excusing weak ass plot devices and overrating the writing of the characters and story arc.

If this was a foreign language show with unknown actors, I doubt there'd be the same acclaim for it.

I find a lot of junk TV enjoyable, but I don't pretend it's anything but that. And I guess that's my issue with posts in here hyping this up to be something it's not. It's not 'the best thing HBO has done in years'; it doesn't have three-dimensional characters; it's not great, powerful TV. It's incredibly average, and that's okay. Not everything has to be great.

Solid finale. Feel like Maeve and Ruffalo gonna be hard to beat come awards season. That motherfukker Jayson was overdue for that shyt, but it was worth the watch. Higher body count in the finale than I expected lol. I think Mare was a more solid overall story, but I feel like I probably liked the Task finale more.

I noticed that the same guy who made task made mare of east town, which I have never seen. ya'll think I would like that given I liked this?

Fair take. I too thought this was a solid show with its pitfalls but like I said in my previous post, I just don’t have the time to be so caught up in hyper-analyzing art anymore.

A simple sentence or two and I’m done with it. I also guess the overall discussion isn’t where I feel drawn to go into great detail with my posts.

I absolutely agree with the blind stanning of shows or movies which really comes down to this modern day brand loyalty that people swear they don’t have. Hell I do it too but we’re just folks online, I expect better from paid journalists to be more unbiased and truthful.

The kid had ZERO time to mourn his dead family nor did he seem to really give a shyt.

That's the only thing that didn't make sense to me.

From jump that kid was a space cadet.
Do we even know if they told the kid his parents died? The majority of time he with Maeve/Robbie, we know they didnt tell him.

The way they portrayed the kid in the first 2 episodes, we're supposed to think he's a little "touched" like Bruce Banner's homicidal "son"

That said, special kids and regular kids, most of them would be asking about their parents, not just seemingly accept that they went to visit his sick grandmother.

The other thing about the kid - he looks like he's 9-11, but acts way younger.

So maybe Bruce Banner told him the truth between the end of the main action and prior to the adoption....

But the show's hook was that they kidnapped this kid...and the writer(s?) just didn't really close the loop on that.

I do think it was a good show. Probably the best "premiere television" of the season. I'd prolly put it in the top 20 for the year.

I remember him asking at least a couple times when he could go back home.

And there’s a chance based on his upbringing that he was probably getting shuffled off to strangers all the time.

If that, remember the parents kept him locked in the basement a lot too. So he probably socially delayed on top of being a lil slow

Just watched Mare again after the finale for Task.
Yea, Mare is the better of the two(not saying this is bad). If you like Task you will probably love Mare. If I give this a 7.5ish, Mare is like a 9. So much goin on and all the lil side stories are interesting too. Also the family shyt on Mare 10x more interesting than Tom's family. Also with Mare, it's a small town and Mare is part of that town. Everyone knows everyone type of town.

This is where I’m at with it. Some dope shots, good acting, and trope heavy writing.
