:dahell:

Tatum is like 26 years old, that is an absurd thing to say. Currently there is no better 2 way player than Jayson Tatum. Put his numbers up against anyone not named Joker and you can’t say he is not dominant. You cannot watch him pick apart defenses with his passing, grabbing every board, and nailing sidestep 3 after 3 to put the Celtics up by 30 and say he’s not a dominant player.
Jesus Christ you Tatum ass nikkas are slow as hell

What about Tatum and how he plays projects him to ever be the best player in the league?

It can't be just because he's young

Goddam what are you dudes watching????

He's been in the league 8 years already

We got the Joker, Giannis, SGA, ANT, Luka and some others

They all are ahead a him

Damn :what:

Yes. I believe Pippen came in 2nd or 3rd when Jordan was gone in 94.
Joakim Noah was also top 4 in MVP voting one year when Rose was hurt. It doesn’t mean he was that guy. Pippen was always a great second option. The season after he finished 3rd in MVP voting, the Bulls were struggling to make the playoffs until Jordan came back.

I feel like he lacks “something” that makes him a superstar in the same realm as Bron, Step, KD, Ant, Luka, Embiid, Jokic, SGA, Giannis, etc, etc.

Yes, we know he's a superstar, an NBA champion, and among the top 5-10 best players in the league but I don't know he just doesn't have that “it” factor that makes him stand out or even be considered a definitive MVP-caliber player, even tho statistically his numbers support such sentiments.

He's kinda boring in the sense that his play style isn't very iconic or the type to really move the crowd. The other guys I mentioned above have an interesting aura about them once they step on the court, whereas Tatum is just that guy who plays basketball really well, and it leads to wins, but there's nothing to brag about either that makes him unique in his own way.

See, when we call certain players superstars, it's not just because of their stats night in and night out, the wins and losses they lead their teams to, or the chips and postseason performances but it's the overall energy/vibes, y'know the personality, that rub off of them that scream superstar, MVP, etc.

I think it’s just the fact that he’s a very good basketball player that plays for the Celtics. If you don’t live in Boston, no one is ever checking for the Celtics like that :francis: as good as they’ve been historically.

🤣😂how old are you? Every “away” game it’s like a home game, Celtics have the biggest following outside of their home arena in the NBA.

He's got all the traits you would want in a face of the league, it's just he plays in an era with 3-4 players better than him.

^This is the actual issue. Few people (outside of maybe Massachusetts) had him "better" than Jokic, Giannis, Luka. You can now add SGA to that list. Hell, two years ago it was still a "debate" if he was better than a 38 year-old Bron or often-injured Kawhi, Embiid, AD. Some even argued (or trolled) that Tatum wasn't the "Batman" on his own team.

Compound this discourse with BOS's choke jobs vs Miami and GSW, then finally getting over the hump with JB as Finals MVP, and public perception is likely that Boston is simply a great all-around team and Tatum is their best player, full stop.

That should be enough for him tbh but if he wants greater public validation than "just" being a champion, star, and overall good guy, then idk.
