Yeah always some shyt. :francis:

I'm only getting like $300 back next year. But I jumped from making $65,000 in 2015 to $109,000 in 2016 so I can't complain :yeshrug:

Nice jump breh :salute:

That's good money for Austin. What's it like living out there? I'm trying to find affordable spots to relocate to. Austin has a decent amount of tech jobs.

Well...Ha I just dropped to around $100,000 because I just started a new position. I was with my last role with Dell for about 10 months (remote position) then a layoff and severance happened.

You have a lot of companies in Austin though... Dell, Oracle, IBM, Silicon Graphics, Indeed, Rackspace. Not to mention the smaller companies and start ups like Cloudflare, Atlassian, etc.

No state income tax here which is good. I think there was a study that said that it is one of the more expensive places to MOVE to, but I mean that's what relocation is for. :takedat:

I didn't get any because I moved from San Antonio but ah well :yeshrug:

I think the biggest thing that will eat your income is housing. I'm about to pay $1,505 for an 11 month lease for about 970 square feet. Location is probably what gets me too but relative to the area I'm moving, which is North Austin, it costs less than surrounding areas.

Gotta factor in some places are being gentrified like East Austin which is predominately black. A lot of blacks moving to the suburbs. But with the right role you can pay those and be alright.

Everything else such as food, gas, etc costs low. You may pay high energy bills in the summer to keep your house cool but that's the only factor I can think of. It's still the south so cost of living overall is not as bad as say somewhere in Cali or DC or somewhere.

I'd advise you look and I'm always down to help a breh out. :salute:

Good intel I didn't know rent was that high in Austin. I've been looking at the prices of houses and thought rent would be dirt cheap since the house prices are so low compare to the Silicon Valley.

It's not dirt cheap. You can go to the suburbs or you can go to South Austin for cheaper prices. My friend is paying 800 for a 500 square feet place.

Next move for me is to get a house.

What did you hate about it and what side of town did you live on

Uh...if you're not Married, Military, or Mexican and you are young it is TOTALLY not a place you should be. I've lived on the East Coast most my life.

Very homogeneous culture. People are friendly sure but are not really welcome to other ideas. Pretty much only know the 50 miles around them.

Strong Hispanic culture there with almost NO ROOM for anything else. It's obnoxious. Sure Austin is super white and hipster, but you can find other scenes and more diversity. I've had friends that I went to college with that were from VA and MD that moved back to those states because they couldn't stand living there for too long.

Many of the girls are :flabbynsick: Spongebob Squarepants looking girls. Definitely some good looking girls but most aren't. Not many black people and many of them are :mjpls:

I lived in Northeast San Antonio but I went downtown to the Pearl and Southtown a lot, which is entirely different from where I lived.

Still got deductions to go brehs:blessed:

Why didn't you claim more exemptions when you set up your paycheck? I'd rather get the money throughout the year than one big refund check?
