And as expected theyre lighting Lorenz up in her own comments section and in the comments of the video she posted. The top comment is asking her why SHE isn't disclosing who is paying HER.
I keep telling yall. The politicians are the matadors, the billionaires are the audience in the nice seats and you are the bull. The matador is dodging and stabbing at you until you're worn down and die(checkout from caring about anything) while the billionaires who pay the matador are cheering and watching the fight.
Journalism is a job with financial incentives. Taylor Lorenz like Anderson Cooper or Tucker Carlson is someone who needs to make money. Drama, beef, and sensationalism gets clicks. When you're an independent journalist like Lorenz is, she needs to do anything to get you to click so she gets ad revenue for the companies that pay to publish her stuff. There are conversations that happen where people like her are asked "how will publishing this affect our SEO"
"How much traffic will this get us?"
"How long will the debate last in the public sphere?"
This isn't about facts, truth, or giving you a direction to go in, it's about scaring or angering you so you click more.Check out her youtube page.
Tell me that these titles are supposed to make you feel anything other than afraid, sad, or angry and in the thumbnails she looks worried, shocked or unsure. The emphasis is always on how fukked everything is (some titles LITERALLY JUST SAY "this is bad" )and how it's getting and not what YOU can do about it, just like regular news that scares the shyt out of you so you don't skip through the commercials to find out what you're supposed to do a after the break(which they never tell you).
Use ground news or another news aggregate, spend an hour at most reading the news and then go about the rest of your day. Save your money, give back to your community by helping people participating in mutual aid and direct action(including feeding people, representing them in court, learning/teaching self defense, finding jobs, preventing them from evictions, teaching them how to use technology etc.) If you let this shyt consume too much of your time it becomes nothing more than the soundtrack to your misery. I promise you, even just sending 5-10 dollars or donating your old clothes and tech will make you feel like you've done more than watching youtube videos, streamers etc.
