Nah, she was low key falling off at that point and trying to change genres at that time. Similar to how beyonce is doing now.
People forget she started as a country singer before pivoting to pop music. Country audience was getting tired of her.
She had pretty much peaked already and was looking for ways to extend her career. Kanye not letting her finish lifted her career to new heights.
I think she just grew out it as she got older, and her fans skewed younger and they been rocking with her the whole way through. I think the Kanye thing just put her in the sights of black folks

No, i remember people complaining that she wasn't a true country artist. Treating her like the Nickelback of country music. She was getting way more hate than love at point. Nowhere near as unanimously praised as she is today. Kanye was the best thing to ever happen to her. basically gave her a whole new much larger audience overnight
